The Heritage Trust Certificate lists the exterior color as "Dark Green". However, the original color behind the instrument panels is a metalic dark green. So, since Jaguar did not list it as Opalescent, it may have been a custom shade of dark green metalic. I have tried to match the original color exterior and interior as evidenced on the car.

John, many thanks for the tons of great photos. I love the color combination, nice to see a "resale red" car get restored to its original shade!

Congratulations.I am awestruck.Enjoy the fruits of your work and talent, organization and perseverence. Is this a hobby or your profession. This is artistic.Perfection.This is my car ue1s24352 if you are interested to see it.The re-spraying is in the final stages of preparation.I will post all the pictures after I completely receive them from the gentleman performing the work.I finally decided to have the car re-sprayed for my mental quietude because I also seek perfection...however my car will never achieve the level of perfection you have striven for and attained.Hats of to you both.

John, fantastic job! You are absolutly forbidden to drive this car - its a showpiece. My condolences for the loss of your friend Everett.

Hi there, this colour issue is very typical. At the time Jaguar did not offer British Racing Green as standard, the standard "Dark Green" was in fact "Opalescent Dark Green". many people misinterpret that as BRG as did my car's PO. Could also be the bright lighting and the camera hues, but your ODG looks a bit light and a bit olive. Fantastic restoration BTW and my favorite colour combo. If I ever get an OTS I'd want it to be just like that! Cheers, Pekka T. 1E76372BW in ODG in Finland

PS. They never listed "Opalescent Dark Green" in the build sheets, or at elast so far I have never seen it written as "Opalescent" or even "Opal."

Thanks all for the nice comments! UPDATE: The September 2009 photos above were taken around Utah or Nevada on the way home from the Western States concours in Grand Junction Colorado in 2008. We drove 2,700 miles via Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico to see my 93 year old Aunt, back up to Denver Colorado and down to Grand Junction. The return home totaled 4,000 miles. But before that was possible, I spent the winter of 2007 preparing the Jag to compete in the JCNA Concours Championship Division. I had to reverse some of the upgrades on my car such as: Stock aluminum cam covers and carb tops, original coil (with oil changed) and cad plated bracket, original distributor rebuilt, original starter rebuilt, original 16” steering wheel with new wood and new horn button less fractures, original brass radiator rebuilt, original vibration dampener and pulleys, painted alternator fan black & armature housing with Glyptal red insulated paint, original radiator fan motor and blade, Lucas battery with helmet cable ends, battery charger out of car, new porcelain on exhaust manifolds, black SU dashpot tops, painted air intake base to carbs hammer tone silver, poly bushes on sway bar black, slotted screws and correct colored lenses on side lights, MOST PAINFUL OF ALL, HOOD MUST HAVE NO ZIP-OUT REAR WINDOW. Suffolk & Turley black mohair hood with original herringbone pattern tan inside, absolutely beautiful! Correct jack and fine tuned tool kit and that was it.
Our Concours scores were 99.98, 99.6, 98.95 (I was docked for the red Jaguar on the spinners and the 185/70 tires  ) for a three score average of 99.51. To my great pleasure we placed 8th in the 2008 JCNA competition as listed in the February 2009 issue of JCNA Jaguar Journal. :-))) That was good enough for me! I have since replaced my zippered rear window top for a much more pleasant summer driving experience, and sold many of the so called upgrades I removed from the car. I hope to drive the wheels off it this year again with my beautiful wife- she says I need glasses. Happy Motoring!

All of the 'incorrect' upgrade items were put back to original before the 2008 Concours season.
Please take your time, there is a lot to see there. The comments at the bottom of the start page are also great.
This car runs COOL in any weather! I drove it from Oregon through Las Vegas east to Texas in 108 degree weather. Then back up through New Mexico and down to Grand Junction Colorado in August for the 2008 Western States Concours. (That's where I was discounted for some water spots on the bumper...not a trailer queen) Anyway, the temperature gauge never gets out of the safe zone all the way (even in stop and go traffic) and back through Utah, Nevada to Oregon. That was 4,000 miles of the current 10,466 miles on the odometer.
I recommend you come and see the car in person, it drives like a dream.
Daimler - Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate #16324 documents these original colors and sale in San Francisco California May 5, 1966.
Please contact me with any questions I can answer or any photos you need.

John,

I just saw your E-Type listed on E-bay and I have never seen a finer E-Type listed. Sad to see you list it with so much of your BS&T's invested. I hope that you change your mind. We need to keep our dreams as long as we are able. Best regards, Don Tremblay #877539
