Ebay item 11/21/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-4-2-/230704590201
Current bid $42,600 reserve not met, 26 bids 2 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Matching numbers, original color XKE Roadster has had one owner from 1968 until two years ago and has a mere 28,000 original, documented miles.

Given that the car had not seen much use over the last decade, it recently had all mechanical systems meticulously gone through and serviced by a marque specialist with the goal being to keep original where possible, but not at the expense of keeping the car from performing flawlessly.

So, all systems were meticulously gone through including: flushing and boiling out the gas tank, renewing fuel lines where necessary, rebuilding carburetors with new gaskets, new suspension bushings, new shocks, new clutch, new exhaust system, new tires, all new brakes, complete engine service including all belts and hoses.

Cosmetically it is still very original, but has had some upgrading, but only where necessary. Leather seats, carpets and the top have been replaced using only factory correct materials. The factory boot cover is still the original one.

The car has been painted once which was done in 1991, and which was done in the original color. The body is solid as a rock, no bondo, no damage, zero rust.

Since the comprehensive freshening, the car has been driven about 1000 miles and it performs absolutely without fault. All systems function perfectly, all lights and gauges work properly.

It comes with solid documentation back to the day it was bought as a slightly used car in 1968, including the nearly $30,000 in receipts for the mechanical work recently done. It also includes all of the original tools, the original jack and the original factory owner's manual and service book. It also has the ultra rare and highly sought after factory hardtop.

This may be the best driving XKE Roadster our company has had the pleasure of selling. It is highly original, and has never been rusted or damaged, and that results in a car that is tight, powerful and totally reliable.

The car is located in Stratford, Connecticut.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
