Auction description:
It appears from inspection of photos in the history file that accompanies HVC 10D that shortly after its delivery to the United States the car was used for racing. Unfortunately the current owner is unable to shed any light on the subject however as many road going E Types were used for Club racing in the US during this time, it is likely that his car was campaigned in weekend ' drive to and race' meetings. Inspection of the car has revealed a number of period modifications that enhance the cars performance that have survived on the car today. These include the fitment of triple Webber Carbuerettors and a race inlet manifold, competition type 'big valve' cylinder head competition exhaust system, upgraded front brakes and uprated rear half shafts and front/rear shocks. An oil cooler has also been fitted and we believe the cam shaft was replaced for a race spec item.In all this car makes for a very potent package, together with the British Racing Green paintwork and the fine tan interior this is a very desirable E Type. Now right hand drive the car has been subject to remedial restoration work over a period of time and is described in very good order. It is supplied with the Jaguar handbooks, V5 logbook and workshop manual.

Now registered as a category B insurance loss

The Jaguar heritage trusts 'production record trace' informs us that this 1966 Series I Roadster was originally registered as a left hand drive car in the United States to a Mr. P. Coombs. This Coventry big cat returned to the U.K in 1969.During the following years the ownership paperwork shows it changed hands a number of times. It is assumed that in these years the conversion from left to right hand drive took place. The car has been in the vendor's tenure since 1986.A recent decision to improve the paintwork ended in disaster when a fire in the workshop resulted in the car's appearance today. We are advised that a good number of parts from this former beauty are salvageable; however the fire has changed the car to category B status and, as such, this car or any restoration of this car cannot be used on the road.

Note: VIN is not clear on data plate, using best guess, however the registration number is same as '05 auction. Corrections welcomed.
