Ebay item 9/9/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Jaguar-E-Type-OTS-Stunning-Rust-Free-Correct-Exampl ...
Current bid $18,100 reserve not met 9 bids 9 days left in auction. Complete VIN on this car is J671E13771. 49k miles.
Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar E-Type OTS finished in appropriately head-turning Carmen Red over black. As the final year of the Series I, the 1967 model is often referred to as the most desirable E-Type, retaining all of the original styling cues (faired-in headlights, above bumper tail lights, etc.), but with the fantastic 4.2L engine, reliable gearbox, great brakes and more comfortable seats. And this example, with its strong numbers matching engine, completely rust-free body and undercarriage and absolutely stunning aesthetic condition, fits the bill as the pinnacle of E-Type models on the market.
The exterior is beautiful, marred only by the most minimal of imperfections (a couple of rock chips in the front valence, a soft ding in the bonnet) none of which appear in any of the pictures or detract from the car's overall appeal. The brightwork is excellent, as is all of the rubber and the glass, and the knock off wire wheels are beautiful and wrapped in nearly new red line tires. The car shows no evidence of accidents and the panel fit is excellent throughout. Always properly garaged and maintained, the car was never exposed to the elements and is therefore free of rust or evidence of structural repairs in both the body and the undercarriage. The car's interior is equally as clean. The seats, carpets and dash are all in excellent original condition, showing only the most minimal of wear. The soft top has been replaced and shows no wear or tears and retains a clear rear window.
Mechanically the car is fantastic, an absolute joy to drive. The original 4.2L engine starts easily and idles smoothly, its triple SU carbs providing plenty of power and making this big cat roar. It truly jumps off the line, pulling through each gear strongly and smoothly. We just replaced the clutch, an expensive and lengthy process, and the car shifts beautifully through each gear without any slipping or grinding gears. The suspension is tight and the car drives and brakes straight. We just put over 100 miles on the car during a beautiful evening drive to Ojai. Despite warm temperatures and some spirited driving, the car performed beautifully, both bombing down the highway, winding around Lake Casitas and the orange groves or cruising down the main drag. The car was a huge draw, getting thumbs ups and requests for photos the whole way.
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an exceptional rust-free, original, beautiful E-Type OTS. Bid accordingly. We want this car to go to a great home.

Covered headlight 1967 car.

Hi, well I don't know what makes this a "1967 car", sure it was titled as a 1967 and perhaps in 1967, but it sure was made in 1966. 1E13784 was built on Oct. 25th 1966. What comes to "covered headlights" this is well covered by factory documentation and the usual books by chassis number, but it appears many US cars lost they headlamp covers in the USA as they were either looking like "last years model" or against new regulations. This car appears almost correct S1 4.2 except for the shifter gaiter (which should not be there, only the black rubber boot) and the same aftermarket shifter knob as I have in 1E76372BW. Cheers! (my car was titled as a "1967" too although it was made in July 1966, I have heard of cars made a s early as March/April 1966 titled as "MY1967" in the US)

Pekka is correct. Open headlights went onto the assembly line in Jan of '67, probable first deliveries in Feb. As with American cars whose next year sales usually begin in Sept. its likely any new stock in the show rooms in Oct. were sold as '67 cars meaning at least 4 months of '67 deliveries had closed headlights, the rest were open.

Car returns to ebay 5/16/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Jaguar-XKE-Series-One-OTS-No-rust-Very-original-Mat ...
Current bid $29,400 reserve not met, 9 bids 8 days left in auction. 49k miles.
Sellers description:
This auction is for a very nice example of a totally rust free, Jaguar XKE roadster. This is a matching numbers car, ID# 1E13771, that looks to have always been red. It is being reluctantly offered for sale due to storage issues. It is currently registered in California until September 2012. Purchased almost a year ago it needed quite a bit of work to make it safe and reliable. This was undertaken and the car now runs and drives extremely well. The work was professionally completed by a very competent facility and included, lower engine reseal, complete new exhaust, front suspension overhaul, cooling system - new hoses, water pump, header tank and extra cooling fan thermostatically controlled with manual override, gas tank refurbished ( renu process) with new fuel pump, rear brake caliper rebuild and two new wire wheels. There were a lot of smaller "sorting out" tasks completed at that time as well. The end result was worth all the effort.
The paint is in very good condition it seems to be an older respray, but quite a thorough job at the time. There is a nice deep shine to the finish and it does not have a lot of chips or touch-up. There are a few scratches under the nose of the car, a small dent in the back under the bumper and a crease where the door opened too far due to a broken limit strap (since replaced). The doors open and close nicely, the windows work fine and all the locks work - very unusual! All the gaps are good on this car and it is very straight. The trunk lid seems to be bowed slightly and could benefit from some adjustment. The dash top is not cracked and looks to be original. The correct wood steering wheel is in excellent condition, not splitting or weak and the telescopic adjustment works well. The chrome is very nice overall, the tail light housings showing some pitting and the trim on the driver side convertible top needs to be replaced. The convertible top is in good condition, the rear window is clear, it works and fits well. The glass has the usual small scratches in the side windows and there is a stone chip drivers side in the windshield that is not noticeable when driving.
Starting easily from cold with the choke, it has plenty of power and good oil pressure, the engine sounds good, having a slight tappet noise often found with these older Jag XK motors. There is no sign of smoke from the exhaust and it does not "run on" when turned off. The cooling fans cycle in and out keeping the car running at a good even temperature. The clutch is firm and works well and the transmission slips through the gears without any fuss. There is some bearing noise in 1st thru 3rd again a common thing. On the road it runs smooth and has very good manners. The steering, crisp and sharp, the ride firm yet forgiving. The brakes feel good and it pulls up straight. The parking brake holds well. There are not any unwanted suspension noises and the handling is good. The gauges all work along with the most of the major electrical items, the high beams, heater fans, wipers, map light do not. The electrical system looks generally unmolested. The period radio comes on but does not pick up stations as the antenna is not connected. The heater functions seem to operate, however the heater core has been bypassed. The interior is slightly worn but complete, the sun visors could do with being replaced . The seats are supple leather and in good condition - no rips or tears, there are no seat belts fitted. It has a good spare wheel secured in the trunk, there is not a jack or knock off hammer. The car sits on a good set of Michelin Redline tyres, having good tread and the side walls are not cracked. This beautiful classic runs and drives great and turns heads wherever it goes. If you don't like attention this car is not for you! If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. As always I would recommend driving and viewing the car if at all possible, it will not disappoint.

Since December 2012 I am the new owner of this beautiful original e-type. The car is unrestored and is still a nice driver. After more than 2 years of searching for a nice original e-type I start with driving it in my free weekends. In the future I am going to do some research about the history of the car. If you may have some information please let me know.

This e-type is still in my possession and unrestored but in very good condition. I drive about 2,500 miles every year and in total this car has driven no more than 56,000 miles.
