Car to be at auction 1/11

Auction description:Chassis No.
1E14433
To be auctioned on
Thursday, January 20, 2011
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
- Desirable Series I features
- Immaculate condition
One of the very late Series I cars, this Roadster has the characteristic covered headlamps and winged knock-off hubs of the early E-Types. Acquired by the vendor in August 2007, it shows fewer than 4,000 miles. Striking in deep red with a fawn leather interior and matching canvas top, it is immaculate in every way. It was restored in the early 1990s, with much of the work done by Brian Anderson’s Classic European Restorations. The car runs and drives well and comes with service receipts from the last several years. The most coveted of E-Type variants, with Series I appearance and the more comfortable cockpit, this car will delight the most discriminating enthusiast.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
