This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the seller in 1996 and refurbished over the course of the next year, including a repaint in dark blue. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes gray leather upholstery, a blue soft top, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, a cassette radio, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Opalescent Maroon, the car was repainted dark blue during the aforementioned refurbishment. Additional details include open sealed-beam headlights, a blue soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Vredestein tires measuring 185HR15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in gray leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a Jaguar-branded cassette radio, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in the 1990s, while the carburetors were more recently refurbished in 2024.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
