R&S auction description:
1967 Jaguar XKE OTS Roadster
VIN: 1E15121
Manufactured in May 1967 makes this automobile one of the last of the covered headlight Series One Roadsters produced. This car with its sleek, striking and curved lines is all about style but is also considered to be a world class performer and one of the most beautiful shapes ever put on four wheels. The E Type features a tube - framed engine compartment, independent rear suspension, double wishbone front suspension, rack and pinion steering, four wheel disk brakes, four speed synchronized gear box, 4.2 liter inline six cylinder engine, three SU carburetors and a monocoque passenger compartment and tail section. The Series One E Type is as stunning today as it was in the sixties and is an ideal two place collector sports car.
A professional number one ground up concours rotisserie restoration was completed on this numbers matching roadster by The Olde Car Shop of Phoenix, Arizona in December 2007. The Olde Car Shop is known for its quality and integrity in producing top award winning automobile restorations due to the thorough detail of the cosmetics as well as the complete mechanicals. The company's restorations of sport, collectible and classic automobiles have set many world record prices for cars sold at numerous auctions since 1978.
This black beauty was finished with a matching cloth top and a new biscuit leather interior to concours condition, but is mechanically sound for every day driving. The car was 100 percent dismantled with all components rebuilt, reworked or replaced as needed. No corners were cut. The engine was rebuilt, the wiring completely replaced, all chrome was replated, all nuts, bolts, washers and hardware was replated in cadium or black oxide as original. The exhaust system was upgraded to stainless steel. All five tires and wheels are new. The body was stripped to bare metal and all panels were reworked or replaced as needed. Lead was used on the rocker seams as original resulting in the perfect fit and straight body lines. After a through inspection you will conclude no hype is needed, the car speaks for itself. This is truly the car for the most discriminate E Type collector.
