Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 ½
55,350 Original Miles
Built August 1967
This 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1½ left the factory in August of 1967, making her one of the earliest 1968 cars. This is ideal for any classic British sports car enthusiast looking for a very reliable classic Jaguar ready to drive anywhere. Rarely will you see an E-Type Series 1½ come to market that has been this well taken care of mechanically. The reserve on this amazing sports car is set to sell, so bid with confidence!
This Jaguar has been used as a driver, and meticulously and professionally maintained. Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition, and has never sat for any extended period of time since its restoration. The owner of this car has invested a substantial amount of money into ensuring that this amazing Jaguar is as close to mechanically flawless as possible.
Reliability has always been the most important aspect with this car, as the car was driven on a regular basis. From 1999 to 2009 the engine, transmission, front end and rear were all rebuilt. The clutch was replaced, the carburetors were switched to 6 Solex performance units, an exhaust header was added, etc. More recently, the alternator, radiator, fuel pump and lines, clutch slave cylinder, and starter have been professionally and correctly replaced. The brakes were all recently serviced and are ready to go. The wheels are 72 spoke polished stainless steel wheels from Dayton that are one inch wider than stock, giving the car much needed additional traction. The wider wheels have also been offset to the inside, so as not to interfere with the beautiful lines on this classic Jaguar. The list goes on and on as to all that has been done to this great E-Type, and the receipts fill an entire binder.
The body is very straight, super solid and almost entirely rust free. The car has been driven and is not a trailer queen, so there is some evidence of such use. The paint is very presentable as a driver, but would need to be redone to make the car show quality. There are a few small scratches, cracks and blemishes in the paint, but none are noticeable from 10 feet away. The chrome on the car is also all original and is very presentable as a drivable car. The interior is 99% original, in good shape for its age, and gives the car a true survivor/ preservation class feel. The seats do show the average wear and the dash pad is cracked in places.
This is an amazing opportunity to own a great 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1½ that can be driven anywhere in the country the new owner wishes to take her. This classic 1968 Jaguar has a clear title and is ready to be added to a collection or used as a daily driver!
