Hi, that "other" engine number looks like a casting number, C34750FF.
The engine number on E-type engines at that time was on the horizontal surface above the oil filter housing. On the later (&XJ6) engines you can find it on the LH side adjacent to the clutch bell housing (on the curved part of the block). Cheers!
