The car had an engine fire in the early 1980's. The owner of a Foreign Repair Shop bought the car. When I fist looked at it in 1991 it was almost rust-free and very restorable. Unfortunately, the OTS was left outside with a top that rotted away. It has been rained into for many years and the body is now very rusty. The family said it will be used as a parts car for another 1968 Series 1.5 OTS.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
