Sports Car Monthly (4/05) comment from Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction 1/05: "Odo: 58,876 miles 4-sp. Taillights above bumpers indicate this may be a series 1.5; front end is Series II. Recent respray looks good, but lacks preparation in cracks and corners in engine compartment. Rust bubbles at rear of right front wheel opening. Panel fit okay, except gas cap cover. Several paint chips. Chrome is clear. Some minor corrosion to parts in the engine bay, including master cylinder and suspension arms. Twin electric fans. Nardi steering wheel. Includes tools and manuals. Cond: 3 Sold at $54,000. Any rust in these cars is always a serious concern, because it can only get worse. Seems about right relative to other XKEs at this sale. Restorer was Fourintune Wisconson (Healy and British Car Specialist) - not Fourintime. Car moved to Austin March 2009, has all nw front end bushes and has been freshened for recent sale. Still real nice driver - appraised at Category 2. There is no rust in the body - was gone over with paint depth measuring device as part of the pre-purchase inspection - bonnet is completely correct - series 1.5 - uncovered headlights - small grill opening

I agree that the March 2005 comment quoting from SCM repeats incorrect information from SCM--this is a S1.5 bonnet, which isn't really anything like an S2 bonnet, which makes me wonder about the rest of the description.
