This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over black leather. A mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment was carried out in 1994 and 1995 and included repairing rust, repainting the body, overhauling the engine, resealing the transmission, and refreshing the interior. The current owner acquired the car in 2021, and subsequent service reportedly included rebuilding the carburetors, replacing the air and fuel filters, and changing the oil. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with refurbishment records, manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a black top boot, a factory jack, and a clean Kentucky title.

The car was manufactured in April 1968 and distributed through Jaguar Cars New York. Series 1.5 XKEs featured exposed headlights to comply with US regulatory requirements while retaining Series I features such as a small front grille opening, front turn signals mounted above the bumper, and taillights positioned above the split rear bumper. This example was originally finished in Signal Red and was repainted during the refurbishment. Additional work included repairing rust in the doors and rocker panels, replacing the floor pans, refinishing the bumpers, and installing a replacement soft top.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with three-lobed knockoffs and wrapped in older 205/70 Bridgestone Turanza tires. The suspension and braking systems were overhauled during the refurbishment. A jack and a spare tire are stowed in the trunk, and the seller notes that the tires are in need of replacement.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather and the interior features black carpeting and matching door panels. Amenities include a Kenwood stereo, a trunk-mounted CD changer, a locking glove compartment, and Amco floor mats. Work during the refurbishment included replacing the carpets and reupholstering the center and radio consoles. The window sweep trim on the passenger door is loose.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. Center-mounted instruments include gauges for voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, 50 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer was rebuilt in 1996, and total mileage is unknown.

The numbers-matching 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was rebuilt in 1994. Additional service at that time included replacing the exhaust system and refurbishing the alternator, starter, and fuel tank. Service under current ownership reportedly included rebuilding the Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, replacing the air and fuel filters, and changing the oil. Receipts for the engine rebuild and attending service can be viewed in the gallery. Compression test results are also provided and indicate between 145 and 150 psi across all six cylinders.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch was replaced and the transmission was resealed during the refurbishment.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the build date, original colors, and original drivetrain numbers.
