This car was mentioned in a letter to the editor in the May '84 issue of Ejag magazine. A partial quote; Tony Mariscal wrote:

I bought our 1968 E-type roadster in 1976. Our Series 1.5 serial number 1E17889, has a 9:1 compression engine. It is equipped with two stromberg carburetors, twin cooling fans and expansion tank located on the bulkhead face.

The cockpit has seats with no headrests, no seat belts, rocker type switches on the dash and a glove box door. Our Jag does not have the perforated center sections as on the Series 2. Chorme strips on the door panels are neither Series 1 or 2.

The exterior of the car has Series 1 tailights, bumpers and motif bar. It has earless knockoff hubs, three windshield wipers and of course no covered headlights.

The car has now been through the restoration process and is at this moment at the upholsterer for work on the interior a new top and boot.

Just awakened from years of storage! Recently found original and very complete but not running. Long term ownership since 1975. Not rusty, some work was done on the floors along the way. Needs restoration. Good alignment on body and doors. Has chrome wires. A great car to fix up, will only go up in value. Sold Mileage Exempt.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
