Ebay item 10/28/15

www.ebay.com/itm/252143156075

Current bid US $26,100 reserve not met 9 bids 8 days left in auction. Seller hansa.inc, 36k miles. Carmel, Indiana.

Sellers description:

1968 Jaguar E-type convertible.

This vehicle started and drove when we purchased about 7 years ago. This E-type was purchased from its previous loving owner in Colorado. It had faded paint, and had some wear. There wasn't any rust holes, body and frame were solid.

The bonnet lost its rigidity near the hinges due to rust, which made it practically impossible to open. The tubing frame has been reinforced, and the bent metal has been removed and strong metal made by a local steelworks has been welded in to the frame of the bonnet.

When this project was started the intention was to have this car restored professionally and to be show car quality. Unfortunately never really had time to continue with work on it past sandblasting and priming the car. It has sat in a temperature controlled warehouse for about 5 years. Originally we had planned the paint to be dark gray BMW metallic. Which was used as base paint in door jams, interior and firewall.

The engine/transmission/rear end was initially removed for sandblasting purposes.

While the body was worked on the engine had valve gaskets replaced, and Engine/trans/rear-end has been cleaned up most of the way from its oxidized look. All metal parts have been painted with rust preventing paint.

After the vehicle has been primed, the drivetrain has been reinstalled back in to the vehicle. Some parts have been ordered new, such as the front bumper assembly, seals for the trunk, doors etc. Some other parts like the chrome moldings which needed to be replaced were purchased used in very good condition.

In our understanding this vehicle is 99% complete.

It its current state it is perfect for you to pick a color of your choice, paint it and proceed with assembly.

Car returns to ebay 12/6/22

www.ebay.com/itm/115628518390

Opening bid $47,000, no reserve, no bids, 6 days left in auction, seller monocoque-metalworks, seller in Elkton, Maryland, car said to be in Ohio.

Seller's description:

Here’s another GREAT E-Type project we’ve found – and it’s also another one that is WELL underway! The restoration has been started, and most of the metalwork and bodywork is complete!

This is a 1968 Series 1.5, 4.2-liter E-Type Roadster – or “Open Two-Seater” (OTS). This E-Type restoration project is complete, numbers-matching, and does not appear to have suffered any major collisions. It was originally Opalescent Silver Grey with a Black interior. The metalwork is completed, and only the final bodywork and finish paint remains to be applied.

The car still retains it’s original 4.2-liter engine – which did run when the car was disassembled for paint and bodywork several years ago. It also has its original 4-speed full-synchro gearbox – and the car was able to be driven around as well at that time.

Provenance –

This E-Type is all numbers matching – the current owner acquired a Heritage Certificate from Jaguar that confirms the numbers. The engine block and gearbox are both stamped with the correct number matching the Heritage Certificate. We do have a clear US title, and will also provide a bill of sale, as well as the Heritage Certificate itself – shown below.

History –

This E-Type has been under the same ownership for the past 7 years – before that it spent much of its life in Colorado, where the dry climate and high-altitude are kind to an E-Type’s body shell. The current owner purchased the car in 2015 in this condition. Due to starting a family at the same time, he was not able to get the restoration underway, and with 3 young children now, has realized that it will be a LONG time before he can devote any time to the car.

Body Shell and Bonnet –

The car has never suffered any major collisions, and the body shell is straight and solid. At the time of disassembly for bodywork, no major rust was found - only a few minor areas in the floor and these were repaired before the floor was seam sealed and prepared for re-assembly.

Take a look at the bonnet – it is in great shape! The shape of the mouth and the entire bonnet overall is excellent. The bonnet did have the typical rust in the hinge plates and headlamp diaphragm panels, and that has been repaired. The current owner has indicated that the repairs are solid and strong, but that they are cosmetically lacking when viewed from the inside and could be improved.

Drivetrain & Running Gear –

The previous owner was able to start and drive the car around before disassembling the car for the bodywork. The current owner has confirmed that the engine does still turn free. While the engine was out, it was cleaned and the cam cover gaskets, etc. were replaced to freshen things up. The engine and gearbox were then re-installed.

Additional Parts –

The car is complete, and all components that are not currently assembled onto the car will be included with the car and carefully packed inside for shipping.

Interior –

Most of the original interior is still included with the car, and the original leather seats are in good enough condition to have their patina preserved for an original, well-worn finish – OR a new interior kit could be purchased and installed. All of the gauges and switches are original to this car, and are in very good condition.

Location & Shipping –

This E-Type is located at the current owner’s home in Ohio, USA.

Conclusion –

This is a GREAT E-Type project that could be completed in a very reasonable amount of time – the metalwork is completed, and that is the biggest hurdle in an E-Type restoration! It's a great start to a fun restoration project that will result in a fabulous car - one that is a blast to drive - AND that continues to appreciate in value!
