Current bid $4,550.00 (Reserve not met), 3 bids, 9 days left in auction. Auction is from Atlanta, Georgia.

    Sellers description:
This is a restored series 1.5 XKE roadster that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. It has the very desirable Signal Red exterior color with new black leather interior and black canvas soft top. The paint was done some years ago and is still in good condition, with just some minor imperfections here and there. Panel fit is very good with great door and bonnet gaps, just look at the photos of how well the bonnet lines up. There are no signs of prior accident damage and the car's serial number is stamped on the suspension sub-frame, which indicates this part has not been replaced. When the serial number is not present on the suspension it is usually an indication of prior accident damage. This is a matching number car.

Chrome and wire wheels are very good. The wires wheels have stainless steel spokes and are the type that accepts the slightly wider tires, this improves the XKE's handling. Engine compartment is clean and all components, except the alternator, are the original. The alternator was replaced with a more reliable single wire unit. Also to increase reliability the engine has electronic ignition. The electronic ignition module is hidden and cannot be detected.

The black leather interior is new, using all correct materials. The soft top is black canvas and was recently installed, back plastic is crystal clear. The boot cover (for when the top is down) is also black canvas. Mechanically the matching number 4.2 liter engine is strong with superb oil pressure (45 psi+) and no exhaust smoke. Gearbox is synchronized on all forward gears and is working properly. Engine does not leak oil. Includes owner's manual, jack with bag, knock-off hammer, spare tire and boot cover for when the soft top is down.

The 1968 e-type was created at a time when Jaguar was in transition between the earlier series 1 and the series 2 which started in 1969. Although not an official Jaguar designation, these cars are normally referred to as series 1.5 since they incorporate components from both series. I like the series 1.5 since it retains the classic lines of the early e-types, with the smaller bumpers and taillights, but have the improved engine cooling and interior seats of the series 2 cars. The improved cooling and seats make the car much more livable with modern day traffic. The gearbox also was improved making it easier to shift than the gearbox used in earlier cars. Some people have retrofitted the triple carbs from a 1967 and earlier e-type to a 1968 (which is easy to do) to end up with probably the best e-type Jaguar created. This combination was available for the 1968 model year in many countries outside of the USA.

    Vehicle Description

Hello you are bidding on my 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 Roadster. I purchased this vehicle with the intentions of keeping it for a very long time. Other financial obligations force sale. It was restored roughly 10 years ago. I went completely through it to insure everything was in perfect operating condition at much expense, over $10K. This is a numbers matching excellent example of a 68 Series 1.5. The series 1.5 is very desireable in that it retains the small bumpers and taillights while adding the improved cooling and 4 speed synchro updates. Very desirable red with black leather interior. To much to list about this wonderful E-type, but here is a short list of what I have recently done. No disappointments, this car drives fantastic and is ready to go anywhere. Recent VA state inspection. You are welcome to come and inspect the car or have your mechanic check it out. I will also provide all reciepts and contact information for my Jaguar shop that has been working on these cars for 30 years. Check out my feedback and bid with confidence!

    Exhaust

I have had a couple of questions about the exhaust system. It is factory stock. The exhaust manifolds are in good condition. The downpipes show some wear. Looks like they caught a bump somewhere down the road and have a small dent. All pipes have standard surface rust. The center mufflers are good, the rear chrome resonators are good but have some very slight pitting. Hangers are all factory correct. System does not leak. I would recommend that anyone purchasing the car get a complete stainless steel exhaust system. XK Unlimited has some good deals going now for a complete exhaust for under $700.00. You do not need to do this, but I am super anal about my cars and would recommend it down the road.

    Body

I had a very knowledgeable bidder come and inspect the vehicle today and he pointed out to me where the left front fender had been repaired at one time. The repair is holding up nicely and it was not serious by any means but I always like to disclose everything.

I had a very knowledgeable bidder come and inspect the vehicle today and he pointed out to me where the left front fender had been repaired at one time. The repair is holding up nicely and it was not serious by any means but I always like to disclose everything.

    Question & Answer Answered On

Q: What was the original color of this car? Is the underneath of the bonnet painted black? Overall condition of undercarriage? Thanks, Adrian
    Sep-26-05
A: Red was the original color of this car, underneath the bonnet has been undercoated black. The undercarriage was really nasty from an oil pan leak that I repaired. I had it steam cleaned afterwards to remove grime. The undercarriage has been coated for protection and is holding up nicely. Thanks. Bryan

Q: HI, , I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA. I AM A SERIOUS POTENTIAL BUYER. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT SEVERAL E'S. BOTH ON EBAY AND LOCAL. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS IS I WANT SOMETHING I CAN DRIVE DAILY. YOURS IS ONE OF THE MOST APEALING. A VERY GOOD LISTING! DOES IT HAVE AIR COND? WAS THE PAINT JOB DONE 10 YEARS AGO? IS IT THE CLASSIC JAGUAR RED? IT SEEMS TO HAVE A HINT OF ORANGE FROM THE PICTURES? I AM ABLE TO PURCHASE IT OUTRIGHT. BUT I WANTED TO MENTION, I HAVE A VERY NICE 2000 XK8 SILVER CONV. [CLEAR TITLE] THAT COULD BE A TRADE. WOULD YOU CONSIDER ADDING A [BUY IT NOW] TO THE LISTING? CAN I CALL YOU TO DISCUSS? THANKS! TONY
    Sep-26-05
A: Hello, if you are looking for one in absolutely incredible mechanical condition with all systems gone through and daily driver modifications already made this is the car for you. Paint job is 10 years old and in very good condition. There is no orange in the paint that is lighting. Sorry no trades but I am entertaining offers and am showing the car locally and will sell if the price is right. You can call me anytime and you are welcome to have the car inspected. 571-236-9906. Thanks, Bryan

    Q: What does car need?
    Sep-26-05
A: Hello the car needs nothing. It is in perfect mechanical condition. I just spent over 10K to make it top notch unlike most of the trash sold on ebay. The only thing I would recommend down the road is an exhaust replacement for a stainless steel system. Which is a fairly standard upgrade to these cars. Thanks. Bryan

Q: I live near Herndon and would like to take a look before bidding if at all possible. When and where is a good time. thanks
    Sep-26-05
A: Hello you can call me at 571-236-9906 to schedule a time. I will be happy to show it to you. Thanks. Bryan

Q: could you please tell me if there is any bondo in this vehicle or is it all original steel?
    Sep-26-05
A: Hello and thank you for your question. I have found no bondo whatsoever on this car. It has never been wrecked nor has the subframe been damaged. Only thing I have found is where the undercarriage has recieved new coating. Thanks.

Q: Dear Sir Would it be possible to ask the reserve price of the red Jaguar E-type please? Kind regards Laura Vaughan
    Sep-26-05
A: Hello Laura I am not going to reveal the reserve price on this auction. However it is going to be listed locally and I will be accepting offers. Thanks. Bryan

Went for a drive and the clutch slave cylinder went out so replace it with a new stainless cylinder. While I had the car up on stands I removed the radiator and reeplace the rubber donuts under the radiator and streighteded the radiator mount where someone had tried to jack the car and bent it. Then replaced all the hoses with new hoses.
