For auction at Historics July 2017 sale
historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2017-07-08/cars/ref-7-1965-jaguar-e-type-series- ...(42-litre).aspx

1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé (4.2 litre)

Registration YPJ 10
Chassis Number 1E20580
Engine Number 7E3689-9
Odometer reading 107,100 miles
Estimate £87,000 - £107,000
This example is the sought after 4.2 litre version with all synchromesh gearbox, manufactured on 12/04/1965 and supplied to Henlys of London. An early 4.2 litre, this right hand drive matching numbers UK fixedhead coupé has had just three owners from new. Now representing an older restoration but still in fabulous, rust free condition, YPJ10 is offered with a Heritage Certificate confirming that its specification included black leather seats with white piping, an unusual extra on the black trim. Presented in British Racing Green, much care and attention has clearly gone into preserving this early 4.2 litre example. The car has excellent panel gaps and chrome-work as well as new MWS chrome wheels fitted with the superb Blockley (period looking) correctly rated VR tyres.

Supplied with its UK V5 document, a large history file which shows the desirable and valuable number plate, VPJ10 (included in the sale) has been on the car since the early 70's. The file also includes an MoT test certificate valid until April 2018. This excellent example offers the new owner the most iconic of British motor cars and with genuine UK Series One cars often commanding £100,000 to £150,000, the estimate of this head-turning example should prove to be a solid, blue-chip investment for the future as well as an entirely capable car for the enthusiast combining the series one iconic lines with the more pleasurable 4.2 litre power plant and associated improvements.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
