Sold by Manor Classic Cars of Sheriff Hutton in March 2024. Amended seller's description below.
www.manorclassiccars.com/vehicles-for-sale/1965-jaguar-e-type-series-i-4-2-fixed ...
Manufactured and dispatched in June 1965, this Series 1 4.2 litre fixed head coupe was delivered to its first owner in Beckenham, Kent in not dissimilar condition to that today; in fact, we suspect it may be in even better condition now thanks to the craftsmen who restored this car. Our car retains its matching numbers original engine and its original UK registration number. In its recent restoration, the colour was modified subtly from Carmen Red to Signal Red, and the interior from the original Black to the more pleasing and contemporary Biscuit.
The car has had only five owners, the first kept the car until 1981, the second and third owners had the car respectively from 1981 to 1983, and from 1983 to 2007, during the period 1981 to 2007 it was registered DFK4. Throughout this period there was a host of bills for maintenance and paintwork. It was always maintained as a running car, but seldom used. It was next sold to Luxembourg when it showed 50,000 miles. 10 years later the car was sold again through a Belgian motor dealer, the condition at that time was tired and it was a prime candidate for a better than new restoration.
E Type UK were instructed to build the perfect fixed head E Type. It took 5 years to achieve and the restoration is fully documented with a record of invoices and book of images. Moss Racing of Bedfordshire rebuilt the engine and upgraded it to fast road spec. The car has only covered running in mileage making it a truly new car and it presents as such. Regrettably because of the time taken to create excellence, the owners circumstances have changed and it is now offered for someone else to enjoy.
