Car to be at auction 10/8/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 139 - 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Fixedhead Coupe
Estimate: £35,000 - £45,000
Registration Number: KLH 821D
Chassis Number: IE 21323

The gorgeous E-type on offer here today was manufactured on the 3rd May 1966. KLH 821D has been with its current owner for some 37 years, and is finished in the spectacular combination of opalescent blue metallic with an original blue leather interior. It has always been much loved and well maintained.

For the purist the 4.2 litre series I E-type is the variant to own and a better example than this would be very hard to find. With sparing use at weekends and continental tours this beautifully presented, early example of the iconic E-type would be the star of any Jaguar collection.

KLH 821D is supplied with current V5, and a history file. As satisfying to look at as to drive, and with E-type prices on the rise, KLH 821D offers strikingly good value.

Bought the car on 9th December 2011

I bought the car on 9th December 2011. The previous owner had it from 1974. He used it for 3 years and then left it in his garage unused from 1977 to 2007. At that point he embarked on a programme to restore the bodywork and do other essential mechanical and trim work. It has only been registered for road use for 2 years since 2007. Overall he reckons he did 2000 miles in it over 36 years of ownership.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
