Auction description:
Lot number 36
Hammer value N/S (est. No Reserve)
Description Jaguar E-type coupe
Year 1966
Registration No. GRU 674D Chassis No. IE 21332 Engine No 7E 88649

This example is in amazingly original condition, is believed never to have been rebuilt, and to have covered a very low mileage. The E-type was supplied by Henlys of Bournemouth and first registered on 24 June 1966. It was acquired in 1971 by its third owner, the director of an engineering company and racing motorcyclist, and kept by him for over 30 years until his recent death. The Jaguar was used for social outings and enjoyment and covered very few miles; an MoT certificate for 2001 shows 39,436 miles covered. The current mileage of 40,000 is believed to be correct. Certainly the condition of the car would tend to support this as the body is generally free from rust and in splendid mellow patinated condition. The brakes have recently been overhauled and a new stainless exhaust system fitted in readiness for its MoT test. Otherwise the car appears to be in very original condition. The Carmen red paintwork and maroon leather interior are sound, and the car runs well with good oil pressure and smooth transmission. Altogether a very sound and original Series I E-type in eminently useable condition which could perhaps benefit from a little inexpensive ?care and attention? without incurring heavy expense or taking the car off the road. This Jaguar comes with V5C and recent MoT certificate, is offered at a very reasonable estimate, and is ready to enjoy on an everyday basis.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
