Served 5 year technical apprenticeship at jaguar starting in September 1966, shortly after my car was built. Spent 6 very happy years at Jaguar working for many of the "legends" including Lofty England, Bob Knight, Tom Jones, Phil Weaver and Norman Dewis who took me for my Company road test!

    Lot No: 411
    1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre Coupé
    Registration no. HWF 491D
    Chassis no. 1E21340
    Engine no. 7E9002-9
Sold for £49,900 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Despatched from the factory in May 1966, this E-Type coupé was acquired by the current vendor from its original owner in July 2001 and since then has undergone extensive restoration. Classic Motor Cars Ltd began the process over the winter of 2001/2002 during which the engine, front suspension, front brakes and front sub-frame were rebuilt and the electrics completely rewired. In 2004 CMCL replaced the boot floor and both rear quarter panels, and fitted a Kenlowe electric fan and new steering rack together with a new clutch. In the early part of 2005 the rear suspension and rear brakes were rebuilt and a new propshaft fitted, while later that same year the Webasto sunroof was removed, a new one made and the headlining replaced.
The following year (2006) Coopercraft commenced a complete body restoration by replacing the sills and floor followed by fitting new doors, bonnet, rear wheelarches and tailgate. Re-trimming and final rebuilding was completed in June 2007 by Coopercraft, who also Waxoyled the body box-sections and extensively under-sealed the car. Other specialists that contributed to the restoration include Aldrige Trimming (complete interior trim kit), T&T Coachworks (bare metal re-spray), ACF Howell (refurbishment of chromium plating), SNG Barratt (parts) and the Vintage Wireless Company. Finished in opalescent dark blue with grey leather interior, 'HWF 491D' has covered circa 69,000 miles from new and is described as in generally excellent condition. The car is offered with current road fund licence, MoT to July 2012, Swansea V5 document, CD-ROM of restoration photographs and restoration invoices totalling some £68,000. Electronic ignition, 6J wheels and a change of interior/exterior colour scheme are the only notified deviations from factory specification.

The car is now on sale for £89,995 with Hexagon Classics in London. Amazing how a car can suddenly increase in value by £40,000.

Delivered new in May 1966, this E-Type retained its original owner until July 2001! Since then has undergone a complete and exhaustive, nut and bolt restoration, including an engine, front suspension, front brakes and front sub-frame renewal. A complete body restoration was then completed in June 2007 by Coopercraft, who also Waxoyled the body box-sections and extensively under-sealed the car. A CD-ROM of restoration photographs and restoration invoices totalling some £68,000 is included with the vehicle.

Finished in Opalescent Dark Blue with sumptuous grey hide and matching carpets, the car has covered only 70,461 miles from new. Accompanying the car a comprehensive history/ chassis file with Jaguar heritage certificate and original owners operating manual. Competitively priced to reflect its history and condition, this must surely be one of the best examples of an E Type Series 1 Coupé on the current market. £89,995.00
