Car was at auction in 2013
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2013-08-31/car/1968-jaguar-e-type-s1%C2%BD-r ...

Auction description:
Registration WGK752G
Chassis Number IE2168
Engine Number 7E18372-9
Odometer reading 45,300 miles
Estimate £66,000 - £76,000

This stunning 1968 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, 4.2 Litre, the last of the series one models, was first supplied in July, 1968 to Mr. A. W. Black of Cheam in Surry. It is unknown how long he owned the car for but in 1988, it was registered in Oxfordshire before being taken to Northern Ireland in 1991/2. It is believed that it was fully restored in Denmark sometime just prior to this, for a Mr Knudstorp Madsen, a director of the Jaguar Club of Denmark at the Jaguar Centre, Roskile. In 2007 the car was purchased by Mr. Neville Padfield of Pontyclun in Wales who almost immediately drove down to Plymouth, boarded a ferry to Northern Spain to start a tour of the country all the way to Benalmadena in Southern Spain where he kept his yacht. He and his wife continued to Gibraltar where the car was entered in the Historic Motoring Festival of Gibraltar and then decided to leave the car in Southern Spain where it was ideally suited to 'open top motoring'. Over the next three years this owner enjoyed totally trouble free touring all over Spain, attending classic car rallies and events, before selling the car in 2010 to a private collection based in Trevisso, Italy. It then returned to the UK at the end of 2012 where it has been in storage ever since. This numbers correct, righthand drive E-Type Jaguar is finished in Old English White with red leather interior and a recently replaced black mohair hood. The vendor believes that the mileage is correct at 45,300 miles from new based on the Northern Ireland/Welsh MoT test certificates, and the car is also supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2013, the Jaguar heritage certificate, a file containing the old MoT test certificates and the Italian registration document. This icon from the 1960's, regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever built, is one of the most useable investments in the world, not only as part of a car collection but to be used at rallies and taken to events.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
