Owner: Andrew Stuart Smith

My father gave me a Etype Coupe pressed metal toy as a 9th birthday present. First mistake. Bought my Etype while at Uni, saving the money for it by picking spuds and labouring. It\\\'s been in my garage for over 30 years. There\\\'s nothing like a day in the office, behind the wheel, on the open road speeding along in the Etype.

Car is for sale on Ebay Item number 120863812077 with photos:

E type jaguar series 1.5 coupe Project. I have had this car for about 5 years it was complete & drivable when purchased & had a restoration that was done 15 years ago by the previous owner. I was in the process of replacing all the suspension rubbers as they had perished after sitting for 15 years & thought i would go a step further & repaint in 2 pac. So all the suspension was stripped & repainted. Body rubbers, fuel pump & various other parts were purchased. The wheels are in like new condition & have stainless steel spokes. The interior is partially finished. The engine i have not touched, it runs very well & blows no smoke. Anyway when I stripped the body down to be repainted i found there were numerous weld repairs of a very low standard to the floors & bonnet. hence it has sat for three years in storage. Its hard to describe the faults. But I know someone with more money or skill & time could restore this beauty. The good points are the car is a matching numbers & original right hand drive, the original colour is dark blue with grey leather interior, i have a jaguar heritage certificate. I will post a few photos of the car when i bought it & some of the way it is now. There has been a lot of work done to a very high standard on suspension components & other components that have been wrapped up & stored so when unwrapped it will be like bolting on new items. Approx $8000 in new parts have been purchased. Disappointed to see car go, but children are growing up and would prefer to spend sometime with them rather than in the shed.
Genuine interest only. I can be contacted on 0418713008 Steve
Also added a couple of photo's showing welds and car as it was when originally purchased

The car is now, 2014, being rebuilt. The body is now structurally and visually flawless approaching preparation for painting.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
