Auction description:
Collector Car & Number Plate Auction 19/05/2024
Chassis number: 1E21896
Engine number: 7E18187/9
Owned for just over 10 years and part of a collection dedicated to iconic British classics, this 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) is a fine example.
Subject of a thorough restoration at some point and clearly looked after by its enthusiast owner, work under the vendor’s care has included replacement of the sunroof with a solid roof and converting the headlights from Series 1.5 back to his preferred Series 1. Thus, the roof and the bonnet were both repainted as a result.
The E-Type is presented in bright red – very much an iconic colour for these cars – with biscuit interior trim over red carpets. Everything is as it should be, even down to the period HMV push-button radio.
Sitting on a set of chromed wires, the paintwork is in good condition, as are the body furnishings, while inside the cabin is equally nice, with just the lightest of patina around the low-mounted internal door handles.
A fine example of an ageless collectible, this 1968 Jaguar E-Type is accompanied by a history file with various pertinent paperwork and with receipts, in addition to having the higher compression ratio 9:1 engine.
