    Lot #124461

This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that is said to have remained with its original owner until the seller’s acquisition in 2010, and a subsequent refurbishment involved a repaint in maroon, replacement of the tan leather upholstery, and installation of a five-speed manual transmission. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six that has been fitted with an electronic ignition conversion kit and coated exhaust headers. Wilwood front brake calipers have been added as well as a retro-style digital stereo, and other equipment includes triple SU carburetors, 15” knock-off wire wheels, and covered headlights. The clutch assembly was replaced and the rear brake calipers were rebuilt in 2022. This XKE is now offered with a Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s manual, service records from current ownership, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Sand, and the body was reportedly most recently repainted in maroon in 2012. Exterior details include a louvered clamshell hood, covered headlights, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and split bumpers with overriders.

Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels are retained with two-eared spinners and are wrapped in 205/65 Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires showing 2019 production date codes. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and Wilwood front calipers were installed under current ownership. The rear brake calipers were rebuilt with stainless-steel sleeves and the pads were replaced at Donovan Motorcar Service in Lenox, Massachusetts, in 2022.

The cabin was lined with sound-deadening material before it was re-trimmed in tan leather upholstery with coordinated carpets. Additional appointments include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a retro-style digital media receiver, and black rubber floor mats.

Smiths instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock, while auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 6k of which have been added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and aftermarket exhaust headers. An electronic ignition conversion kit, a gear-reduction starter, an aluminum radiator, and a ten-blade cooling fan have been added under current ownership. The oil pressure warning switch was replaced in 2022, and recent maintenance is said to have included replacing the battery and accessory belts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed synchromesh manual transmission. Work performed in 2022 included adding heat insulation material to the transmission cover and installing an aluminum flywheel along with a replacement clutch friction disc and throwout bearing.

The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was dispatched on February 15, 1965, for the North American market and lists factory equipment and identification numbers.

Awards bestowed at the Berkshire British Concours d’Elegance in 2012 will accompany the car.

The reproduction identification plate displays chassis number 1E30630, which is prepended with “J65” on the current transferable New York registration.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
