This outstanding E-Type Coupe represents the pinnacle of Jaguar road-car design and engineering, a car that is equally at home on the motorway or a concours lawn. This stylish example is believed to be a four-owner car from new and caring stewardship has ensured that this is a very sound and well-maintained E-Type throughout.
In 2008, a California-based Jaguar specialist performed a comprehensive restoration on the car. During the well-executed work, only period-correct materials were used and today the car has a showroom fresh presentation. Upon close inspection, it appears to be a correct, properly finished example, from the detailing of the classic XK engine to the intricate trim pieces.
The interior, which features the more comfortable seats and ergonomic improvements of the later Series 1 cars, has been correctly reupholstered in leather and British wool headliner and carpets. Currently finished in its original black-on-black combination, the car has an elegant presence that emphasizes the organic design of the E-Type Coupe. Black-on-black was exceptionally rare as Jaguar only produced cars in this color combination when it was requested through a special order.
Since restoration, the car has been carefully sorted by Antique Auto Restorations in Seaside, California. The work was performed with the utmost care and included repairs to the exhaust system, shift bushings and rear wheel hubs and bearings. At the time, the carburetors were sorted, the brakes were bled and various final fit-and-finish issues were addressed.
A Heritage Certificate from Jaguar Heritage Trust accompanies the car, confirming that it is a matching-numbers example finished in its rare factory color combination. In its current condition, it can simply be enjoyed as is and used in organized rallies and driving events, or shown in JCNA competition where it will be competitive.
A well-presented Series 1 E-Type Coupe appeals to all, from the discerning collector to the passionate enthusiast and even the casual passerby. This widespread attraction may be in part because there are so few cars that possess both the enduring beauty and the captivating performance of these renowned British cars.
This is a chance to acquire a great classic sports car on which a considerable amount of time and money has already been spent perfecting it.
