    Records Back to 1980s
    Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is Series I coupe that is finished in Primrose Yellow and was refurbished 9k miles ago in the mid-1980s. The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six is backed by a 4-speed manual gearbox, and receipts and documentation cover the two previous owners. The second owner commissioned the refresh, which consisted of new floors, an interior refresh, and the repaint in the current shade. This example was acquired in 1989 by the previous owner, who addressed several maintenance items, including installing the three rebuilt SU carbs, new hoses, a rebuilt radiator, stainless brake lines, and much more. The selling dealer purchased the car a year ago and has driven it approximately 900 miles since. This E-Type is now being being offered with receipts and documentation dating to the mid-1980s, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Missouri title.

Originally finished in Opalescent Silver Blue, the car underwent an engine-out repaint in Primrose Yellow sometime during the mid-1980s. The older finish is described to have some minor scratches and dings, while some pitting is noted on the bumpers.

The Heritage certificate indicates that the car was built on November 1, 1965 and shipped to Jaguar Cars in New York on November 18th. 15″ chrome knock-off wheels were previously refinished and wear Michelin redline radial tires.

The interior was re-done with black upholstery, carpeting, and door panels some time ago. The included Heritage Trust certificate lists the original interior shade as dark blue.

Factory black-rimmed Smiths gauges and Series I toggle switches are retained. 25,491 miles are shown on the odometer, which is believed to have rolled over once according to the seller. The aftermarket steering wheel will be removed and the original wood-rimmed aluminum steering wheel that is pictured in the gallery will be installed for the sale.

The 4.2L twin-cam inline-six is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and modifications include a stainless steel exhaust and heat-treated manifolds. Receipts from the third owner indicate a rebuild of the SU carburetors and radiator, hoses, and stainless steel brake lines. An oil service and tune-up were performed within the last six months.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shows engine #7E6483-9. The chassis stamping is shown below as 1E 32076, matching the certificate and the data plate.

New floors were installed by the second owner during the earlier cosmetic refurbishment. Additional undercarriage photos are viewable in the gallery.

Numerous records date to the mid-1980s and accompany the sale.

This car is for sale on eBay for $38,000 from North Fort Myers, Florida. Clearly a scam. Text is lifted straight from BAT listing.
