    Ebay item 5/7/06
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-1966-Jaguar-XKE-4-2-Litre-5-Speed ...
Current bid $27,667.25, reserve not met, 15 bids, 7 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
After 10 years enjoyment, it is time to part with my beautiful time machine, the last year of Series 1 cars, the most eye-catching in my book. The car was completed 12/6/65, then shipped to Jaguar Cars, NY on 12/21/65. I am the fourth owner, and know the 2nd and 3rd owners. The car previously roamed in Sandstone Minnesota, Minot North Dakota, and Storm Lake Iowa. I shipped the car at 57,303 miles, to XK's Unlimited Jaguar Restorers in San Luis Obispo California to be totally restored in the fall of 1999. It was completed and returned to me in June of 2002. It has 6633 miles on it since the restoration, basically a new car. I had XK's Install a Borg Warner T5 5 speed transmission, which makes it a dream to drive having that 5th gear, especially at highway speeds. The body was media blasted, down to bare metal, XK's saying it was very solid, with only a couple of areas needing work, to get out any small dings that incurred in its life. It was then painted Opalescent Silver Blue, wanting to keep it in its original color. The engine was completely rebuilt, balanced/blueprinted, all new pistons, rods, valves, cams, seals etc., then painted, polished, and plated. It has a new clutch, new radiator with uprated cooling fan, stainless steel exhaust, new wiring harnesses, a new Pioneer CD/radio player, seats rebuilt, new leather interior where needed, new carpets, new floor pans, brakes and rotors rebuilt, front suspension and independent rear suspension completely rebuilt and powdercoated. The front upright and A-arms are clear zinc coated for a durable finish. It has period Michelin radial 185R-15 redwall tires, and a collapsible antennae to facilitate ease of car cover use. I had them also install a new front windshield, all new rubber door and window seals, plated bumpers and over riders. All the wiring, hydraulics, master cylinder, servo, and heater box have been rebuilt. The wire wheels are original, showing a little age, but with new knock-offs. Comes with original operating maintenance and service handbook. Fun to take to car shows. It was stored in a heated warehouse during winter on my watch.

Opening bid $50,000, no bids, 6 days left in auction, reserve not met, seller significantcars, 18k miles, Indianapolis, Indiana, previously Chelsea, Michigan

    Seller's description:

This beautiful Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe is a fully restored example that with minor detailing will be ready for the show circuit. The car was purchased about 10 yeas ago by the seller and maintained under current ownership, though not needing anything major over the course of his ownership and roughly 9.000 miles covered. Featuring the highly desirable Sliver Blue Metallic livery this is just a stunning car. With a period correct Blaupunkt AM/FM Radio, Tools, Manuals, and Spare, the car is accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Upgraded with a 5 Speed Gearbox during the restoration. the car runs and drives perfectly, and is ready for either long distance touring or rallies as well as local summer time drives. The car is accompanied by extensive receipts for all work done under current ownership, as well as all receipts and restoration photos from the major restoration work performed by noted specialist XK's Unlimited between 1997 and 2001.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
