Car now offered at:
bringatrailer.com/2010/02/21/bat-exclusive-1966-jaguar-e-type-project/
Sellers description:
This 1966 Jaguar E-Type FHC is a very complete project car that needs restoration. It has rust in the driver footwell and was originally red from the factory. The engine features triple Weber carburetors, and the body style is the best of the E-Types with covered headlights, small taillights above the bumper, and the 2-seater profile. It is available in Topanga, California for $19,500.
The odometer shows 52,868 miles and it has spent most of its life in New Mexico, Nevada and California. The car was purchased five years ago from a Jaguar restorer in Los Angeles who was given it as a payment for restoring an XKE convertible. The title was from New Mexico at that time, and it now has a California non-op title since November 2004. It has been registered here on XKEdata.com since 2003.
The oil looks good, and the seller has turned the engine over by rolling in gear so it is not seized. Since his purchase he has occasionally put lubricant down the plug holes but doesn’t thing the engine has been fired since 1999.

Magnifique et rare exemplaire de Jaguar Type E Série 1 coupé millésime 1966.
This car, equipped with its famous 4.2l 6-cylinder in-line engine with three SU carburettors, has been completely restored to the highest standard by an internationally renowned Californian specialist.
It is extremely rare to be faced with such a meticulous restoration, down to the bolt, using only original Jaguar parts.
This example was sold new on February 25, 1966 by the Jaguar dealership in New York to Mr and Mrs Wood. It then left for New Mexico in 2003 and then bought by Mr Haig Petrossian in 2009. This E-Type specialist, recognized in the United States, has restored numerous models for almost 40 years.
It took him two years for this one. An exceptional restoration.
At the end of this, the car will be purchased by the son of a former Parisian Jaguar dealer, who came simply for the expertise, but fell under the spell.
This will mark his return to Europe. Today, and since 2016, it is owned by our current client, a knowledgeable collector and enthusiast of exceptional automobiles.
All of the original mechanical elements have been revised and restored from A to Z (steering, clutch, engine block, carburetion, electrical harness, etc.)
On the body side, the body was stripped bare and sandblasted. Painting redone in original color.
The interior and upholstery have been redone strictly as originally (seat and door trim, headliner, dashboard, trunk).
It has its original steering wheel, restored and kept separately because it is fragile.
A complete invoice file is available.
Probably one of the most beautiful 4.2l of the moment.
Confirmed by a double expertise, making it possible to attest to the authenticity of the original mechanical elements (matching), and the quality of the restoration.
