Ebay item 1/6/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Car has a buy it now price of $25,500 for 5 days.

Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupe. This is one of the absolute best combinations available across the range of E-Types. It is a Series 1 car, and as such retains the pure design details like faired in headlamps, small taillamps, small mouth, etc. However as one of the latest S1 cars available it has some of the kinks of the early cars worked out, including the addition of the more powerful 4.2 litre engine with the requisite triple SU carburetor setup.

This car was purchased out of Arizona and is as such very dry. The car has never undergone a full restoration, but the previous owner had the engine rebuilt and the car was painted in the 1990's. It has always been garaged.

This Jaguar is a beautiful runner. She starts well and idles great. The 4.2 litre XK6 engine is perhaps one of the best ever to come out of the UK. The 4.2 with triple SU's is rated at 265 HP. The other British sports cars I've driven tend to accelerate with a wonderful noise whilst you're being passed by minivans and Priuses, but this car has serious power. 0-60 is quoted at just 7.1 seconds with a top speed of 150mph!! This was a true supercar during it's day, and it's performance figures are still impressive today.

I've put around five hundred miles on the car over the last couple months. She runs great and has never let me down. In addition to the factory electric fan behind the radiator, the previous owner added a supplemental pusher fan up front in case traffic gets heavy. This helps quite a bit with keeping temperature in line in stop and go. When I purchased her, the front brakes were worn, I went through them with new discs, hoses, and rebuilt calipers.

Cosmetically, the car is in good shape, but not perfect. The paint looks quite presentable, but it's an older respray. There are some lacquer checks and some spots that have been touched up. I went over the car with a careful wetsand, three stage buff, and wax to get her to how she looks today. For me she's pretty enough to drive to the british car meet on Sunday, but not so perfect that you couldn't park her at a restaurant without expressly demanding the window booth. Even so, look at the photos. The salesman at the Jaguar/Aston dealership where I took them declared it the prettiest car on the lot! The 15" chrome knockoff wire wheels are in excellent shape and are wrapped in Cooper Trendsetter tires, two three months old, two a couple years old, all with nearly new tread. There's a usable spare in the boot with a new tube and a knockoff hammer just in case.

The car comes with a clean Colorado title. The steering wheel pictured is a period correct Moto-Lita wheel that was originally offered as the E-Type "sport" steering wheel. I also have the factory Moto Lita wood rimmed wheel to go with the car. The wiper arms are off as the car never sees rain, but they're in good nick and included as well.

The car is available out of Boulder, CO.

Car sold on ebay 8 January 2010 for $25,500. As at that time the car number appears to come only from the ID plate pictured dated 6 January 2010. That ID plate doesn't show the Body No or the Gearbox No. Therefore that ID plate appears not to be original. To that extent the Car No (Chassis No) is also unconfirmed as at 8 January 2010. For what it's worth, the Engine Number shown on the non-original ID plate is 7E9371-9

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
