Ebay item 8/8/23

www.ebay.com/itm/126044138201

Classified ad price $138,000, seller classicautomall, car now in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, 54k miles.

Seller's description: 1967 Jaguar XKE Coupe

For consignment, a curvaceous coupe, an automotive sensual siren, a wondrous work of car rolling art, here in our Hallowed Halls and is a prime piece of low hanging fruit, ripe for the picking. Over the years of current ownership, our consigner has performed plenty of work, (which is detailed with receipts available for your perusal), on this masterfully designed machine, but hey it's British and to own one is really a love for cars and a full time job to keep it that way! The British baton is about to be passed...

Exterior

Claret Maroon bathes curved steel panels that have excellently minded gaps, and are peppered with just the right amount of curved chromed accenting. The long hood with its bulbous quarters, bump in the center and oval grille sports covered headlights on either corner. These are framed below by a curved wrap around bumper. Right down to the curvilinear arc of the wheel wells which accent the shape of this aircraft like car, and highlight perfectly the wire wheels and the chromed knockoff hubs, these sultry and sexy wheels that are wrapped by 205/75R15 black wall radials. Gone are the bias ply Avons of yore. A slightly wrapped around windscreen takes over from the bonnet, and forms the arched roofline that gracefully lands on what is the pointed rounded design of the rear hatchback if you will. Horizontal tail lighting hovers above more wrap-around curved chrome bumpers just above where the rear roll pan dives under the dual exhaust pipe in the center. Rounded doors, a wide threshold, and nicely trimmed glass cover the passenger compartment on this coupe. It's a stunner!

Interior

As I slip past the black leather covered door panels and into the bomber styled buckets also in the black leather, I'm in an aircraft-like cockpit ready to reach out to a large wooden steering wheel. This firmly plants me in front of the black leather covered dash with dual large sweep circular gauges top dead center behind this wheel. Lots of toggles, pulls and levers are at my control for all the necessary functions I could encounter during my tool around the test track. The buckets rest within a wide threshold and a center console which houses the shifter and a padded armrest. A swing of the driver's side hinged rear gate reveals more beautifully preserved black leather covering the storage compartment. I note a Marantz aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette player amongst the lineup of knobs and toggles just in front of the shift lever. The headliner above is gray felting and is nice and tight. Below is black Wilton carpeting which remains pristine and clean.

Drivetrain

A flip from the windscreen of the front hinged long luxurious hood, reveals a masterfully machined DOHC 4.2 Liter Inline 6 cylinder. This high test only engine is fed by 3 1-barrel HD8SU carbs, and has a 4-speed manual transmission on back with a 3.54 final drive. All under this hood in the bay is very clean and very well maintained in its silver metallic form.

Undercarriage

Up on the lift I see nothing but straight unibody design and panels that are slightly patina'd. No real rust, and dual exhaust coupled with some Independent coil sprung suspension on all 4 corners is also noted. 4 wheel disc braking for this sports car and we are ready to roll! Send in the FEM BOTS!!

Drive-Ability

As I grab the keys and with eager anticipation slip inside of the car, I need to grab the inside of the driver's door as the handle does not actuate the door from the outside. A bit inconvenient, but I'm in and she comes to life. It starts and idles a bit fussy but eventually the engine warms up and it runs smoothly. Its handles nicely and steering is very easy to perform any tight parking event which may come your way. Unfortunately the Prince of Darkness has struck this automobile with the head and tail lights not illuminating, the horn not working, the wipers not wiping, the radio silent, the heater blower not blowing and the 4 way hazards not functioning. Ahhh Lucas electrics are just part of the fun of owning a British piece of sculpture!

It is what it is and that is simply stunning. Despite its shortcomings and fixable problems, this car still takes the cake in my opinion and I definitely agree with Enzo. They just do not make stuff like this anymore, so get in and grab this one up and get to work.
