Ebay item 2/28/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Jaguar-E-type-Series-Coupe-First-Open-Headlamp-Coup ...
Current bid $40,001 reserve not met, 12 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar E-type Series I coupe. This great car was owned by the same family since new. The date of manufacture on this car was January 10 of 1967. This car 1E34113 was the very first ever fixed head coupe produced with open headlamps. We did some research and was in contact with Mr. Clausager at the Jaguar Archive Center in England and also the author of the book Factory-Original Jaguar E-type. It is the very first Jaguar fixed head coupe produced with open headlamps. According to the Jaguar Archives and Mr. Clausger "in my book Factory-Original Jaguar E-type and you turned to page 72, you would find a list of change points for electrical equipment for the Series 1 4.2 litre, which tells you that open headlamps were introduced on fixed-head coupés with left-hand drive for USA and Canada in January 1967, from chassis number 1E 34113 - which extraordinarily enough is the exact chassis number that you are enquiring about. So not only are the open headlamps correct on the car, it is also the first car of its type to have open headlamps, which explains why you have found a car with a number just before with covered headlamps. Open headlamps were then introduced on non-North American cars from 1E 34550 in mid-1967." The car was originally painted Pale Primrose Yellow with black interior. The date of dispatch was March 8 of 1967. The original owner Mrs. David of Wentaugh Long Island, NY, purchased the car on October 10, 1967 from Hempstead Auto Company. As we understand she owned the car until around the late 1990s and it was then give to her Nephew. Her nephew had a lot of work done to the car over the past 9 years. We purchased the car in later 2012. The previous owner (Nephew) had the car painted black and retained the beautiful original interior. Although he did not drive the much at all, he invested a great deal of time and money to improve the car both cosmetically and mechanically. This great Jaguar E-type has only 48,441 original miles on it. Some of the work, which was done recently over the past 10 years include, but NOT limited to:

2003 at 47,679 miles: Radiator boiled out. Engine rebuilt both top and bottom with new pistons, rings, bearings and all new valves and guides. Clutch replaced. New Fuel pump. Only less than 800 miles on the rebuilt engine as of 2/25/13.
2004 and 2013 at 47,679 miles and 48,415 miles: Carburetors Rebuilt, Fuel tank drained and cleaned. New fuel filter.
2005 at 47,679 miles-New Chrome Wire wheels, chrome knock offs and tires
2004 and 2013: New power brake servo, new stainless steel exhaust system, all new brake pads, front and back new brake calipers.
2004: New rear Control Arm bushings, new tachometer generator.
2005: Car completely stripped and repainted black. Chrome bumpers, over riders and tail light covers replated.
2013 at 48,415 miles: New shocks front and back. Exhaust manifolds ceramic coated inner and outer. New fan belt, new fuel filter, new interior door panels, new rear interior hatch panel, new rubber around hatch. All the electrical has been gone through and everything is working as it should.

Also included is all original documentation, including original bill of sale, warranty card, original owner's manual, original owners pouch, original loan documents, original key (key number on bill of sale) original service book, original tool kit, original jack and original grease gun. In addition the documentation of work that has been done over the past 10 years is included. Overall, the car drives exceptional and is certainly one of the best driving etypes we have ever driven. It is very responsive and fast. The car handles tight around turns and stops straight. At higher speeds the car is also very tight with no steering wheel shake and does not struggle at all to get to high speeds. This is Jaguar E-type performance at its best! There is something truly special about driving an original Jaguar E-type that has not been fully disassembled and placed back together. The compression of the engine is excellent of 165 to 175 across all 6 cylinders and the oil pressure is great as well.

To elaborate on the condition of this car:

Paint/body: The paint is truly exceptional on this great car and is just like a mirror on any angle viewed. It has tremendous depth. The body is very straight. There have been minimal miles placed on this car since it was painted, so the paint still looks fresh. This is an open headlamp Series I car, as a lot of 1967 cars were open headlamps and not all of the cars had glass headlamp covers. There is no rust on this car.

Chrome: The chrome bumpers, tail light covers and headlight eyebrows were all replated. The chrome around the windshield and all other chrome (except wheels and knock offs) are most likely in very good or excellent original condition.

Interior: The interior is in well preserved original condition with the exception of the door panels and rear hatch panel. There is some patina shown on the seats, center console and carpet, as to be expected on a low mileage, almost 50 year old car. Overall the interior is in excellent original condition.

Wheels/Tires: The tires are new Coker classic red line lines. The chrome wire wheels are new with new chrome knock offs.

Underside/floors: The underside is excellent and very clean. The original floors are solid. The rocker panels are excellent and solid with no rust. The rear end does not leak and looks clean. The inside of all wheel wells are also clean. A new stainless steel exhaust system has been installed with chrome resonators. Again no rust on this car.

Engine Compartment: The engine compartment area is very clean and detailed. The valve covers, manifold and carburetors have all been polished. Under the bonnet is the same quality of paint, which is on the outside of the car. The frame rails are all painted black (body color) as they should be. The exhaust manifolds were ceramic coated on the outside as well as the inside, so there will not be cracking in the future. New shocks have been installed in the front and rear as said above.

Spare Tire Compartment: The spare tire compartment/trunk is very clean as well. The original insulation is still in the spare tire compartment. It has been painted black to match the rest of the car. This car also comes with a full tool roll and kit. The original tool bag comes with the car as well as a newer tool bag .

Overall: This is one of the finest Jaguar Coupes you will find which has not been totally disassembled and with ownership history (same family) since new. The car runs and drives perfect. In addition, one family owned Jaguars or any classic car are very hard to find this nice. Jaguar Series I E-types have been great investments and are appreciating with coupes now bringing close to roadster prices. This is certainly one of best investment quality Jaguar E-type Series I cars available being it is the fist Jaguar E-type Series I Coupe made with open headlamps. Also, with its great history, low original miles, original interior, extensive work already done as well as its overall exceptional condition.
