Listed for sale June 6 on Bring A Trailer. "This 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I, 4.2 open headlight FHC (chassis 1E-34218) has been with the mechanical engineer seller for 17 years and he is the third owner. Described as a good running and driving survivor, the car has a handful of issues including some moderate rust in the rocker panels. This example comes with a Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, which verifies the original interior and January 31,1967 production date. XKEData.com confirms this is one of the last Series I LHD coupes built and that the open headlights were correct and original during January production of the Series I. This car is now available in Hood River, Oregon for $39,000, The car looks complete and straight, but does show corrosion in several spots on the body, primarily on the lower rockers and door bottoms. The worst of it appears to be confined to the lower corner immediately aft of the front driver's side wheel, but as demonstrated on lift photos in the slide show below, frame, floors, and suspension mounting points show minimal oxidation. Paint has seen better days, but can be viewed as a kind of charming shabby driver patina while waiting for body repairs and respray. Apart from a shallow pie-plate size dent repair visible on the inside of the original bonnet, the car is thought to be accident free, and this incident appears to have avoided the frame entirely. The interior is pretty tattered, but remains all original and is completely serviceable. Instruments aren't currently working and the period dealer installed A/C has been removed but is included. Gauges, switchgear, and trim are all intact, although much of the latter will need leather work along with the seats. It is nice to see the factory radio still in place, and though carpet would still need attention, we like how it's olive contrasts with sage hides. Mileage shown on the still operating odometer is 8,387 but seller believes the true figure to be 100,000 more after rolling over. The 4.2 XK six starts easily, pulls strongly, and produces no smoke or odd noises, and though not 100% oil tight, it leaks very little with a good main seal and only a small amount of weeping from an as yet undiagnosed area. Motor mounts are fresh and the car has never overheated during the seller's ownership, thanks in part, to an after-market switch operated electric radiator fan. The master cylinder has been replaced recently, but there seems to be an issue with improper vacuum boost as the brake pedal is a bit soft and requires more of a push than ideal, according to the seller. Cloth wrapped wiring appears to be all original, but a modern alternator has replaced the OEM generator for practicality sake, while the drive train further benefits from a recent clutch replacement. The car is said to drive well with a little play thought to stem from worn tie rod ends and sway bar bushings, and if driven regularly the battery will maintain a good charge. In addition, to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the car is also sold with the original warranty info, periodic maintenance voucher book, service manual, radio and A/C handbooks, spare, lead hammer and jack."

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
