Ebay item 10/12/07

Current bid $20,000 reserve not met, 9 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
A two seat Jaguar XKE coupe is the most attractive shape since Marliyn. The very unique series 1.5 was only built one year retaining some of the more desireable features from the series 1 including small tail lamps, bumpers, non-headrest seats, and small front turn signals. The series 1.5 acquired the more desirable refined twin fan cooling system and less temperamental twin Stromberg carburetors. This is a non restored car with only 2 owners since 1974. It was refinished in the original carmen red and fitted with a proper replacement beige interior about fifteen years ago. It has functioning factory air conditioning, original Dunlop spare tire, tools, bag, jack, and owners manual as pictured. It is a matching numbers car with original motor. The original Motorola AM radio is in still working order. The paint is excellent near show quality with only a few minor blemishes and undamaged floor pans. The chrome is excellent and has excellent glass save for a wiper rub mark near the edge of the passenger side windscreen. We have just finished a major service and give it two thubs up for an underpriced collectible.

What a day it must have been when the first owner collected his 1968 E Type Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe from his local dealership in New York. He ordered a 4.2 litre Series 1 with the immutable Opalescent Maroon exterior and Beige interior; the colours the car still has. The car is in excellent condition, not surprising when you view the photos of the restoration. The bodywork was taken back to bear metal, repaired as necessary, then resprayed in the original finish. The inside was reupholstered with an eye to original detail. All work carried out to an exacting standard.
The bodywork and paintwork are in very good contition, showing only a few minor blemishes. The car has always been garaged, shown by the condition of the supple leather and unfaded carpets. This car has been well and truly loved. All instruments are neat and work as intended. When it comes to mechanics the car is in excellent health. The engine was dismantled and rebuilt with a lot of new parts, gaskets and bearings. There is syncro on all four gears, making the gear change precise and sporty. The overhaul has resulted in a smooth running engine.
The car comes with a Jaguar Heritage certificate and extensive photo file detailing the restoration. This timeless E Type looks stunning and is heavenly to drive
