Ebay item 8/14/06

Current bid $1,025 reserve not met, 2 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar E type 2+2 (XKE) with the rare manual transmission, last year for the covered headlights, triple carbs, and toggle switches. It is a beautiful, rust-free original condition car. In fact, before a friend went overboard with a power washer, you could still see the factory crayon marks on the firewall & bonnet, put there to identify the matching units for reassembly following engine installation, etc. Only a few marks left! The original owner suffered a stoke in 1997, and the car was in storage with 38K on the clock until three years ago. All that was required at that time was a major cleanup and she was on the road! Subsequently, I’ve replaced the primary brake master cylinder and clutch slave and have rebuilt the secondary brake master. The exterior color is Old English White with red leather interior. The previous owner had a top quality respray done in the original color. It looks great, except for a bit of roughness near the right headlight The odometer reads 48,300 miles. If you search the NADA values of this car you will see it falls in the range between $35,000-$41,000. The $35,000 value is what they call a 20’ vehicle, everything looks good from 20’ away. This car shows perfect from 10’ away. The reserve has been set at a small fraction of these values. The chrome is excellent and it drives perfectly. The 4 speed manual trans shifts smoothly and the car runs strongly and smoothly. It is way beyond me to describe the experience of getting behind the wheel and setting off. This truly is a collector car that will make someone very happy. The picture through the back hatch does not show the rear seatback, as this is how we use it. The car is more practical without it, leaving more luggage space for long trips. It is shown in the picture of the back seat, but this does not show the split in the seam at the top and back of the seatback. When I purchased the vehicle, the air conditioning compressor had a slow leak. It did blow cold before it leaked down, so I obtained a more efficient compressor, but have never gotten around to installing it. If desired, I will ship that compressor with the vehicle at no charge. The picture taken with the dune buggy was taken in Mexico last December. I really had to take it there as it has 1967 Mexican “Tourista” stickers on two windows!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
