Sold by Fayreoak Classics of Cheltenham in April 2021. Seller's description below.

www.fayreoak.com/autos/1966-jaguar-e-type-s1-22-rhd-manual/

You cannot restore this car for our asking price. Arrived in the United Kingdom from the United States in the 1990s. Same owner since the 1990s and covered 45 miles in that time. Purchased from a private collection of the restorer who kept his E Types in an air-cocoon. Fully restored in 2000 and converted to RHD. Never used since. Full engine and gearbox rebuild, with bils for thousands of pounds. Everything stripped to bare metal and replaced. Options include stainless steel header tank, electric fan, Coopercraft brake pipes, Dayton wire wheels, stainless exhaust, halogen lamps and waxoyled.

Factory-fitted Webasto sunroof fitted

Supplied new to the United States of America in left-hand-drive

Imported to UK during the early '90s

Subsequently converted to right-hand-drive

Major restoration carried out and completed in 2000

Engine stripped and rebuilt to run on unleaded petrol

All running gear renovated

UK road registered since 2001

Exempt from road tax and MOT testing

Stored carefully and used sparingly since restoration

V5C present

Offered with one key

The fully documented photographic history detailing the extent and stages of the restoration together with its extensive history file have unfortunately been lost over the years, but the quality and full extent of the work is fairly evident from the excellent overall condition of the car.

Once fully restored and registered in the UK the car has sat in an air cocoon, with another 5 E-Types to keep it company, being started and given short runs regularly.

The car looks great and drives beautifully though it could probably do with a good long run to blow away a few cobwebs.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
