Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar Series 1 E-Type Coupe 2+2 currently owned by Willie Thomas, a famous trumpet player and jazz musician. The following is Willie's description of this Jaguar and it's history:
This Jaguar was originally purchased in 1967 by a doctor for his wife. She was unhappy with the car and drove it only briefly The Jaguar was then sold to John Carabba, who resided in Anacortes, WA. John drove the car for several years before he decided to keep it for his collection. One of his several businesses was a full-service automotive garage. John was a Navy aero mechanic and did the work on this car himself for years. One of his other mechanics was Jaguar trained and eventually took over its care and maintenance. When I purchased this vehicle from John in September, 1998, he continued to take care of my car for another 8 years. At that time, I lived in Bellingham, WA and kept the car in a covered and heated rental space until I moved to Orcas Island in 2002. At that time, I built a garage with a wooden floor to house the Jaguar, where it is now. I drove my Jaguar most weeks for all of those years for the grand total of approximately 4000+ miles. I never took long trips nor did it ever get a proper airing out on our small island. Occasionally, I did put it through its paces on the curves, in the hills and a few secluded back road stretches. Over the years, I have had the maintenance performed as recommended in the Jaguar manual on a regular basis. Just this past week, filters and oils were changed. Here is a list of some of things that have been replaced:
Replace complete steering column
replace idler pulley and bearing
replace all spark plug wiring
brake pads
replace two front brake calipers
replace all hydraulic brake cylinders and lines
replace manifold gasket
coil
Damaged Areas:
Right front fender-minor damage
small vertical crack at the top of the windshield-driver's side
small crack in leather on drivers arm rest
Things working improperly:
windshield washer line plugged
right back caliper frozen
turn signal rotor
dashboard light
radio needs fuse
right door latch
bottom left driver seat support
speedometer may not be accurate
That's Willie's take on the car, and I expect it is accurate.
