    Hi Steve!
Congratulate with a very handsome ser 1 2+2 E, one of the best I have seen!
It is not offen to see these cars restored to the standard as yours.
I am my self the owner of 1E 75347 BW here on XKE data.
I am curious of your conversion to manual gear. How did you do it? What gear box
is used? The wider automatic trans tunnel etc. Any pictures of the conversions?
    Best regards from Norway

    Hi Terje,
thanks for your comments. I agree many E owners look down their noses at the 2+2 but it can't be beaten for practicality. The conversion was carried out using original Jaguar parts sourced over a few years from numerous sources. Everything is interchangable with the manual version except the tunnel which is wider for the auto and obviously has no hole in the top. I did consider changing the tunnel (available from Robey) but in the end cut a hole in the auto tunnel using the glassfibre cover as a template. It all turned out ok. I do have some photographs of the restoration which I will scan and put on the XKE site. If you want any more info please feel free to use my email address.
Will now go and look up 1E 75347 BW.

Hi Steve, congratulations on having great taste in E-types! I did very much the same in 1996-98, except that I guess you also converted from LHD to RHD? Part of the job for me had been done by the Previous Owner, like cutting the hole in the gearbox tunnel, only I had to make it bigger and get a load of difficult to find parts like the gearbox top cover, pivot mechanism, breather pipe etc. specific to the Ser. 1 manual 2+2 AND the centre console itself (luckily even in the same colour!) Do you have some interior pictures as well? Mine is "1E76372BW" and although I found the car extremely practical (drove around Europe with my wife and 2 small kids!) and enjoyable have now decided to let it go. But I too feel that for me this is (and has been) the best E-type in the world. Do you also have the 3.31 rear axle that was standard for the US automatic models? I have exactly the same drivetrain (gearbox-o/d-rear axle) in my XJ6C, but less power and more weight! But three kids in safety belts and a/c, I guess that's what's needed now with global warming! ;-) -Pekka T.
