Car was sold at auction in '03
    www.cheffins.co.uk/version2/vintage/carsmotorcycles/catalogues/archive/
    Sold at £15500

    Auction description:
    1967 Jaguar E-type Series 1½ 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe 2+2
    Registration Number: LHA 357E
    Chassis Number: 1E 76593BW
    Engine Number: 7E 51945 - 9
For many people, the E-Type remains the ultimate production Jaguar. A car whose heady blend of styling and performance were so exceptional at its 1961 Geneva Motor Show launch that they continue to cast a smooth, elliptical shadow over the marque's new sports cars some forty years on. As with all Jaguars of the Sir William Lyons' era, the E-type was somewhat of a victory for style over substance. Taken as a whole it was magnificent but as the three production series proved, there was always seemingly room for improvement. This particular example is one of the highly regarded 'Series 1½' generation cars. The last of the line to carry the original's sensuous lines unsullied they also benefited from a host of detail improvements over their earlier brethren. Powered by a 4235cc version of Jaguar's fabled dohc straight six that developed some 265bhp and 283lbft of torque, the S1½ FHC was capable of 149mph and 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds. Such strong performance was kept in check by the all round disc brakes (with dirt shields at the front). While poised handling was assured thanks to independent front and rear suspension (by torsion bars and coil springs respectively) and positive rack and pinion steering. Compared to earlier 3.8 litre SI incarnations, the S1½ enjoyed far more luxurious upholstery and better cabin space. Less noticeable improvements included the adoption of covers for the boot hinges to stop them squashing luggage. This particular example has been painstakingly restored over the last nine years to the vendor's exacting specification. Attracted by the far greater cabin space and extra seats yielded by the 2+2's nine-inch longer wheelbase, he was keen to acquire as sound a donor car as possible. The search for a corrosion free monocoque led to this particular example being re-imported from California. Converted to right hand drive and stripped to bare metal, it was carefully prepared before being repainted in primrose yellow. It was then fitted with all new suspension, brake and steering assemblies together with a new fuel tank and lines etc. The engine was thoroughly rebuilt and upgraded with both triple SU carburettors and an unleaded cylinder head. To ensure that its outputs were not sapped and in order to gain greater driveability a five-speed Getrag manual gearbox was installed. The interior too was fully refurbished with new black leather upholstery, new door seals and restored dashboard. Riding on stainless steel wire wheels, the car is in excellent overall condition as one might expect given the £40,000 apparently lavished on its rebuild and the mere 78 miles it has covered since the work was completed. Offered for sale with V5 registration document, restoration invoices, MOT and road tax current until June 2004.
    Estimate: £12,000 - £14,000

I purchased this restored car in 2003. It was originally exported new to the US and is declared manufactered in 1966 not 1967. When retored it was converted to RHD and a manual 5 speed gearbox was installed in place of the original Auto. All the resotation work over a 9 year period was carried out to a very high standard. The car now reides with me in the Southern US where the climate is much healthier for it. I recieve many compliments on it especially as it is RHD and somewhat unusal in the US.

I own the car # 1E 76594 i.e. one car later. It was purchased 1967 by a couple from South Sanfrancisco, CA, and sold to Las Vegas two (?) years later. It was taken off the traffic about 1976. I own it since 1994, when the restauration started. It came back to road in 2005.
    Somebody interested in details?

    1966 Jaguar 4.2 liter e-type series 1 2+2 coupe
look really cool in California or New York.

This is one of those cars that you have to see and drive to really appreciate it. It is being offered for a fraction of the restoration cost. If this car was a
roadster it would be priced well over $120,000 .... but it isn't, therefore the price is only $49,900. Impossible to replace for anywhere this cost. Please
Primrose yellow with black leather, 5-speed, triple Weber carbs, right hand drive ... fantastic restoration!

This is an extremely nice numbers matching series 1 e-type 2+2 coupe that went through a complete nuts and bolts restoration by Whitehouse Restoration
in the UK. The restoration started in 1994 and took 8 years to completed. The body was taken COMPLETELY apart and is now totally rust free and
straight. Please refer below to photos of the car tub after it was painted. The Primrose paint is very nice as is the black leather interior. The previous owner
wanted a no excuses car and upgraded the gearbox to 5-speed and installed the superior cooling system found on the series 2 e-type.. If you have ever
driven an e-type you already know what difference that 5th gear makes and the relief of having a cooling system that actually works. The original 4.2 liter
engine was given three Webers ... now that is performance! The car was converted to right hand drive and is perfect for the UK, Australia, Japan .... or to

click here for a copy of the restoration receipts. Please note that these receipts do NOT include the cost for paint and body, the 5-speed gearbox, Weber
carbs, wire wheels and much more. The prior owner claims he invested over 60,000 pounds (that's $117K dollars!) on this car. Looking at the quality of
the work and the cost for the mechanical restoration, I believe him.. Unique opportunity of buying this series 1 e-type at a fraction of the restoration.
