Car to be at auction 8/15
russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/
Auction description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type Coupe 2+2
Consignment # 4137
VIN #1E76622
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale August 13th 15th, 2015 at Russo and Steele's 15th Annual Monterey California Auction.
This numbers matching Carmen Red 1966 KXE Coupe was fully restored back to its Red finish with the intent to drive and place well in the JCNA Driven - D2 Class.
The coachwork was meticulously metal finished, the bonnet is in superb un molested condition and all body lines are clean and accurate. All rubber trim and gaskets have also been replaced. All chrome has been restored to an impeccable bright finish.
This car has had its matching numbers engine rebuilt to factory specs in 2009 by Coventry West in Georgia, including complete head rebuild, new pistons, crank and lower end. The engine block was line honed and the rotating assembly balanced.
The rear end assembly was also completely rebuilt including new XKs Unlimited fully adjustable rear shocks.
Some reliability and performance improvements we made along the way including an aluminum radiator with thermostatic electric fan, electronic ignition, upgraded oil pump and oil filter assembly, fuel pump, alternator, Wilwood front brakes and stainless steel exhaust header; retaining most of the original parts in a box for JCNA showing if necessary.
All suspension and steering bushings and hardware have been replaced and or updated. The car drives amazingly well, goes down the road and stops perfectly straight. It drives as if it were a brand new car.
Sporting three SU carbs, the car has been driven 18,350 trouble free miles since its restoration. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow. The engine runs reliably at +60PSI oil pressure and 70 degrees C while under way.
Even the choke warning lamp, turn signal, brake lamps, warning indicator lamps and horn work without fault. The heater and defroster operate without trouble and provide a happy comfortable atmosphere for all occupants.
The carpet was replaced with the proper factory Wool carpeting and is impeccable condition.
The car also retains its original jack, spare tire and lead knockoff hammer and tool kit.
This show car is a perfect investment opportunity and a proven reliable driver. See how it feels to drive a car like this just as it would have driven new in 1966.
