I believe I am the 4th owner. The restoration was done in 1994-96 and it has only been driven 6000 miles since and has never been out in the rain.

This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I 2+2 coupe that is finished in black over red. Power is by the original triple-carbureted overbored 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. This S1 2+2 was built on August 23, 1966 and was imported to eastern Canada. It is believed that in 1974 the car went to its second owner, in British Columbia, having covered 76k miles and in poor condition. That owner started a refurbishment but never finished it, and the car was stored for some two decades. A third owner purchased it in 1993 and undertook a three-year restoration, details of which are outlined below. Modifications include an electric cooling fan and Pertronix electronic ignition. The seller purchased the refurbished car four years ago and has added approximately 1,200 of the 84k indicated miles. This covered-headlight E-Type is now offered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with invoices from the restoration, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and Saskatchewan registration.
During the restoration in the 1990s, the car reportedly was taken down to bare metal, the body repaired, and a repaint done in the original black. Smaller body panels were cadmium plated prior to painting, and the insides of the doors and the rocker panels were treated with rust inhibitor. The bumpers and over-riders were re-chromed, and new headlamp bezels were fitted. The windshield and door glass were replaced. 15″ chromed wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and wear Pirelli P300 tires.
Refurbishment of the red leather interior included re-dying the front and rear seats and the door armrests. The sun visors and the center armrest have been reupholstered. The wool carpeting and the headliner were replaced. The check strap for the driver’s door is broken, and a replacement is included.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel has been refinished, and the speedometer cable was replaced. A period radio has been fitted along with new speakers and a power antenna. The clock has stopped. The five-digit odometer shows just under 83,600 miles, approximately 1,200 of which have been added by the seller.
The rear seatback flips forward to create a larger cargo area, which is accessed via a side-hinged rear door. The load floor was reupholstered during the 1990s restoration. The retracted power antenna can be seen on the right rear fender.
The original 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six reportedly was bored .030″ over and rebuilt. The work included new bearings, pistons, and rings. The crankshaft was polished and balanced and received a new damper and seals. Camshafts and bearings were replaced along with the valves, valve guides, and valve springs. The triple SU HD8 carburetors were rebuilt. The automatic transmission and torque converter were rebuilt during the restoration, but the seller reports that the vehicle slips out of park when not under load. The alternator and starter motor have been replaced. A spin-on oil filter, an electric cooling fan, and Pertronix electronic ignition have been added. An oil and filter change was performed this spring.
Among the chassis and underbody components replaced during the refurbishment were the prop shaft and U-joints, the wheel bearings, the ball joints, the brake hydraulic hoses, and the tie-rod ends. A stainless-steel exhaust system also was fitted. The seller notes that the brake system would benefit from a brake-fluid flush and bleeding.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the chassis, engine, and body numbers. Matching numbers on the cylinder head, body, and chassis plate. The car was delivered new to Canada in 1966 in its current black over red color scheme.
