Ebay item 3/20/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1-2-2-244F2280223-T_W0QQitemZ270221276 ...
Current bid $3,383 reserve not met 7 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
I purchased this XKE Series 1 in 1995. It was totally disassembled and had been stored under a tarp inside a paint shop for 8 years. The odometer read 55,000. I completed the restoration by 1997 at which time I turned to restoring a 66 XKE S1 convertible. When done I decided to cut the top off the 2+2 and install a 250 used Chev 6 cylinder and rebuilt automatic trans. (Could not fit the engine with a manual transmission.
I was happy with the slicker line and lower windshield, but the engine power was a disappointment. I had hoped the 2+2 would be the car anyone could touch and the convertible would be the “don’t touch” In 2001 I sold the original 2+2 engine, and the convertible leaving the 2+2 sitting on a lift at my factory ever since. I want its space and hope it will become someone’s project car with a different engine.
Paint is great, no rust. Brakes, front suspension, exhaust, wheels and tires, rubber molding, head lights, wheel bearings, wireing, windshield all new in 1996. Still have the original triple carbs and hatch back trunk and Jag automatic trans and all invoices.
