Ebay item 1/11/16
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-/231810125110
Current bid US $6,425 reserve not met 2 bids 6 days left in auction. Seller doow6136, 39k miles.
Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar XKE- I have for sale a nice numbers matching series 1.5 E-type coupe 2+2. It has the 4.2 liter with 4 speed manual transmission. I bought the car from the 2nd owner he had owned the car since the late seventies. The car is very original with only a repaint in the early eighties, the odometer shows a little over 39,685 miles that he believed to be original but I can not verify that. He said the car was driven sparingly by both owners and kept garaged all of it's life. The last 5-10 years the Jaguar had only been started and occasionally driven around his neighborhood block. I bought the car and stored it for a while then had a import specialist completely go through the car from front to back mechanically. I spent close to 11k in repair to the car from hoses, belts, carburetors rebuilt, rack & pinion, upper & lower ball joints, bearing, brake calipers, pads, master cylinder, spark plugs/wires, clutch slave cylinder and the lists goes on. I have a detailed invoice of everything done to the car that will be posted in the listing.
The overall cosmetic condition of the car is a nice driver quality, the car looks like a original close to 50 year old car with one repaint. The paint has a nice shine and looks good from 5-10 feet but up close shows it's age. Has chips, cracks and wear etc, I have tried to take as many pictures as possible to show the paint overall condition. The chrome bumper are also is similar condition showing there age with typical pitting and the wire knock off wheels have light surface rust but still in good shape. All the glass is in great shape but the seals have dry rot and will need to replaced down the line. The worst seal is the back window which I have a new seal but just never installed (will go with the car).
The interior is in overall really good shape, no cracks in dash and still has the original leather seats, they have a nice worn weathered look but no rips tears. The back carpet is in nice shape but the carpet will need to be replaced in the driver and passenger floor boards. It currently has the black OEM type rubber mats with jaguar emblem down that cover the floorboards so that's why I didn't replace carpet. All the gauges are in excellent shape, headliner as well. The original wood telescopic is also is good shape.
The driver side floorboard has some rust that will at some point need to be addressed down the road, there is a silver dollar size hole that is starting to come through on the upper driver floorboard area. I will post pictures of the car on a rack sometime the 1st of this week. There is no other area of rust on the car so this should be a pretty easy fix to address down line. All the gauges work expect the clock and the tachometer intermittingly works. All the exterior lights work, horn, turning signals, etc. The car is a factory AC car but I have not been able to get the AC to work.
Since getting the Jaguar back from having spent close to $11,000 on it I have tried to drive it on the weekend to work it through it's paces. It is cold natured like most all Jaguars but once warmed up idles very nice with no knocks or weird sounds. They did a compression check and all cylinders checked out between 130-150. The car runs very well and the brakes work great since been totally replaced. The car shifts pretty well, 2nd gear has a light grind sometimes is clutch is not fully engaged. Again the slave cylinder was replaced and fluids as well but mechanic thought the pressure plate or worn disc might need to be addressed sometime down the road. I am trying to be up front and honest with everything about this car so there is no surprises to bidders or the individual that wins the auction. I have 3 video on you tube I am going to link to the listing, one that is a test drive of the Jaguar.
Overall this is a great original driver quality Jaguar XKE that mechanically is very sound. If you are looking for a perfect show car this is not for you.

The Amelia Island Auction

Chassis no. 1E77750

4-Speed Manual Transmission
*Matching numbers example with manual transmission
*Beautifully presented and well-performing example
*Roomy 2+2 Jaguar Sports Coupe restored to its factory livery
*Offered with Heritage Trust Certificate and restoration receipts
This striking E-Type is a fine example of the more practical 2+2 version. Built on the 14th of November 1967, the left-hand drive 2+2 Coupe was sent stateside for delivery by its first owner, an entity by the name of 'Lakewood Homes, Inc.' Specified with an Opalescent Maroon exterior color over a black leather interior, this E-type was equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission- just as it appears today. This lovely E-type is reported to drive very well, and presents beautifully throughout, with glossy Opalescent Maroon paint, fine brightwork, and a smart black leather interior. Plenty of restoration work was performed on the car in 2018 including a full bare-metal repaint and fitment of five new tires on new Dayton chrome wire wheels. Accompanied by the sale of the car are many restoration photos and receipts totaling tens of thousands of dollars, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, tools, jack, and the car's old air conditioning system in boxes, should a future owner wish to install it. This fine Jaguar retains its matching numbers engine and transmission and would be a great driver for rallies such as the Copperstate 1000 or to use for a Sunday picnic with the family.
