This 1968 Jaguar XKE is a Series II 2+2 example finished in light blue with a dark blue leather interior and powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The car was produced in February 1968 and reportedly spent time in Arizona and Washington, where it was acquired by the seller in 2004. Subsequent mechanical recommissioning is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors, executing a valve job, and updating the ignition, cooling, and suspension components. This XKE is offered with a factory owner’s booklet, receipts, some spare parts, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in light blue, and the seller notes that the body was partially refinished during prior ownership. Visible blemishes include a cracked windshield, a dent in the driver-side rear quarter panel, assorted nicks, and a spot of rust on the driver-side rocker panel.

Chrome-finished 15” Dayton knock-off wire wheels wear 205/70 Toyo 800 Ultra tires. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs, and the suspension features adjustable shocks, an adjustable front torsion bar, and refinished rear components. Additional servicing has included replacements of the bushings, rear mounts, and seals according to the seller.

The interior is upholstered in dark blue leather with a matching console, door panels, and carpeting. A replacement dash pad is fitted, and further additions are said to include replacements of the wiring harness, heater core, blower fan, and coolant tubes. A Kenwood CD stereo is linked to a pair of speakers, and an aftermarket car alarm and battery cut-off switch are equipped.

A replacement steering wheel fronts factory Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing just under 58k miles. Exact mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the tachometer and the clock are inoperative.

Equipped with a pair of Stromberg carburetors, the 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was rated at 245 horsepower in US trim. Work completed by the seller is said to have included carburetor rebuilds and a valve job accompanied by replacements of the seals and gaskets and a subsequent valve adjustment. Updates include the installation of a GM single-wire alternator, a high-output starter, a stainless-steel header and exhaust, an aluminum radiator, and a spin-on oil filter as well as an electronic-ignition conversion and replacement of the associated components.

Engine-block stamping 7E 54364-9 is shown above and matches the engine number listed on the data plate and also on the JHT certificate.

Additional work performed during current ownership is said to have included refinishing the front frame and installing a higher ring-and-pinion gear ratio along with replacements of the driveshaft U-joints, half-shaft joints, bearings, and gaskets.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and component numbers, as well as initial distribution through Jaguar Cars in New York in March 1968. Materials accompanying the vehicle include an owner’s manual, a jack, wheel-removal hardware, and parts receipts from current ownership.
