Lot #129244
This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 2+2 was acquired by the seller in 2021, and subsequent work has included cleaning the fuel tank, rebuilding the dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and replacing the fuel pump, tires, and components for the ignition and braking systems. The car is finished in blue over blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, an AM radio, and air conditioning. This XKE 2+2 is now offered with partial service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in blue and equipped with a driver-side mirror, uncovered headlamps, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. Noted flaws include dents and damage to the front and right front of the car as well as dings and blemishes around the exterior.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-off hubs, and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires were installed in October 2022. Service in 2023 included replacing the brake pads, master cylinder, and front calipers in addition to rebuilding the rear calipers.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in blue leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. The air conditioning system was recharged in preparation for the sale. An AM/FM radio is equipped.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller reports that the car remained off the road for approximately four decades under prior ownership and that service since 2021 has included rebuilding the carburetors, cleaning the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump, distributor cap, and spark plugs and wires.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Car returns to BaT
bringatrailer.com/listing/1968-jaguar-xke-2/
Auction description:
Lot #139323
This is a relist after the car was previously sold on BaT in November 2023, and the sale was not completed because the winner opted to buy a different car from the seller. This was not due to any fault with this vehicle, and the title was not reassigned to the winner.
Otherwise same as above BaT auction
