Opening bid $50,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Complete frame-off, engine-out restoration including full documentation with progress letters from Paul Mellenger. Over $52,000 in receipts. All original colors and engine. Nearly flawless paint with only one tiny chip on left front fender. Chrome is flawless. Tan canvas top has one small spot on it. The interior is 95% perfect with small flaws on the leather seats from the top scuffing them. Wire wheels are perfect with no blemishes and excellent chrome. Engine and engine compartment look new. Converted to tri-power during restoration. Excellent air conditioning. The car starts runs and drives beautifully. It is essentially a new car. This has been my personal car for several years, and only two owners prior. Thought by experts to be one of the top five E-Types in the country. It would be very difficult to find a better one.

Current bid US $10,100 reserve not met 23 bids 9 days left in auction, seller never22many, car now said to be in Pleasanton, California, 29k miles.
Sellers description:
Finished in striking Signal Red / Biscuit interior and color coordinated leather interior and canvas top, this car is a documented restoration of a rust free, dry, straight XKE. Driven minimally since the restoration, the car remains in beautiful condition and is free from significant imperfections. A high quality car for show or those occasional special weekends away!
- Car #: 1R10086
- Engine #: 7R6329-9
- Body #: 4R4393
- Gearbox #: KE7396
- Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Open Two-Seater
- 2-door convertible body type (Roadster)
Supported by documentation and restoration progress notes / letters, this car was restored with $52,000.00+ in receipts (and considerable additional work that is not documented). The car has the benefit of its original, "numbers matching" engine, original factory colors of signal red / biscuit leather interior with a matching biscuit colored canvas top & boot cover.
The car received a comprehensive frame-off, engine out restoration and has, since the restoration, been part of a collection of European sports and high performance cars. At the time of its completion, 7~ years ago, comments were made that included "Thought by experts to be one of the top 5 SII E-Types in the country", and "It is an essentially new car...beautiful!" Since the restoration, the car has been stored in a climate controlled environment, used regularly to eliminate issues related to long-term storage, and maintained / serviced by a professional staff. The car is offered for sale only as a result of the unfortunate personal circumstances of the cars owner.
The exterior remains nearly flawless with the highest quality factory correct Signal red paint that is free from any significant imperfections When the car was restored considerable attention was paid to the preparation of the body and all appropriate engine are chassis area were painted while the car was disassembled. The exterior bright work and rubber trim are in excellent condition having been replaced during the comprehensive restoration. Chrome wire wheels are beautiful and the XKE is fitted with excellent tires (9/32" remaining wear all-around). The soft top has a totally clear rear window and is a high quality canvas (Hartz canvas style) material as is the color coordinated rear convertible top boot. All of the glass is in great shape with windows that roll-up / down freely and no cracks / stars in the windshield.
Panel fit / gaps are as good or better that when the car left the factory.
The interior is perfect. The correct leather seats do not have a mark on them. The carpets are new and flawless. The dash is perfect. The door panels and all the interior chrome is impeccable. Like I said, this is a stunning car.
Mechanically the recent independent mechanical inspection revealed no mechanical issues. This matching numbers Jaguar has been well cared for, and it shows. The car runs as an E-Type should aided by the addition of the three SU carburetors and required manifold as found on the Series I Jaguar XKEs. This makes a significant difference in drivability / performance and increases the horsepower by 20+ hp.
The undercarriage of the Jaguar has been restored and shows only light patina from minimal use. The engine compartment is very clean but not over-detailed. The frame rails are free from damage or scratches and were restored when the car was restored. The chassis members are not damage and show scratch free paint.
The addition of the tri-carb SUs adds a nice appearance in addition to providing better drivability and performance. The engine and major drive-line components are clean as are suspension components and other undercarriage parts. The car's owner estimates that the car has traveled fewer than 5,000 miles are estimated to have been accumulated since the restoration. Mileage is reported as 29,844 although based on the age of the XKE we must report the mileage as TMU (Total Miles Unknown).
The XKE starts immediately with the use of the choke (when cold) and warms quickly. The car is fitted with an upgraded electronic ignition system that is transparent, but makes the car increasingly reliable and trouble free. Oil pressure and other vital signs are excellent and all gauges and electrical systems are fully functional. You would be hard pressed to find a better running, smoother, and mechanically sound E-Type roadster anywhere in the country. The Jaguar does not leak significantly (of course, some "seeping" is a part of even the finest restored vintage British car) and does not smoke or have unusual noise from the engine or drive-line. The engine is very strong and pulls smoothly and briskly through all 4 gears. The syncromesh is excellent in 1-4th gears, the clutch engages properly and the 4-wheel disc brakes stop the car with ease. Garaged all its life, this car has not seen any inclement weather and the entire car (both topside and undercarriage show NO signs of rust or indication that the car had rust repair.
This is a very special XKE that shows the meticulous care and passion of its owners. Whether you would like to parade this beautiful classic in the next Concourse d'Elegance, or simply enjoy it with the top down on a quiet Sunday afternoon, this XKE will not disappoint and is certain to turn heads as one of the most iconic British cars of all time.
