Car to be at auction 7/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/526463
Auction description:
1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster
Lot 12
Current owner for the last 10 years; factory hard top; 4.2 manual right-hand drive in Regency Red; UK car with Heritage Certificate
This matching numbers U.K. car first registered in March 1969 with Heritage Certificate. It is fitted with the limited slip diff performance option.
The car had professional panel work and refurbishment in the early 2000s and was fitted with a stainless steel manifold and exhaust system by the previous owner. In the time he had the car it never went out in the rain. The current owner used a borescope/endoscope to view inside all the cavities of the monocoque when viewing the car. There was just clean dry primer and paint inside them. Subsequently, the cavities (including engine frames) have been regularly sprayed with either Dinitrol or ACF50. All underseal was removed to confirm there was clean sound metalwork beneath, before treating with preservative. In the 10 years of the current ownership, it has been stored in a dehumidified garage.
It had new Dayton wire wheels fitted and is on Blockley tyres. Also fitted is a 123-tune distributor which has two maps programmed and a cockpit switch depending on the octane of the fuel used. Additional mechanical oil pressure and water temperature gauges fitted due to the known unreliability of originals.
As can be deduced, the current owner knows about cars and had worked for Formula One teams including, Benneton, Renault, Arrows and Ferrari in suspension R&D. Due to his F1 suspension experience the car has been fitted with Reiger dampers. These are gas filled, adjustable (cost thousands for a set) and are used by top WRC teams. They have been set up on a dyno to match to the required characteristics. The four rears have adjustable spring platforms to get the corner weights and ride height correct. Castor, cambers, toes and alignments have all been checked.
The rear brakes have the Rob Beere remote bleed kit fitted. The cooling system has Fernox Alphi-11 coolant mix for ultimate corrosion protection. The carbs were rebuilt over the winter, though were found to be in perfect shape. New engine and gearbox mountings fitted. A Burlen (SU) solid state fuel pump is also fitted.
The car comes with two car covers, has recently had a new battery fitted and has fresh oil and filter. The hood is in excellent condition (new when refurbished) and is kept in place when the factory hard is fitted.
