Up for sale is my 1970 Jaguar E-type series 2 roadster with a build date of November 1969. I purchased the car from a friend who bought it in 1989 in Texas so I know the history quite well.

I have been restoring E-types for over 40 years and I wanted to make this car very special. I started by downloading the JCNA series 2 judging guide and my goal over the next 6 years was to try to build a car as close to showroom quality as possible.

Just about everything you could do to an E-type in a restoration was done right down to the proper GNK and Crane bolts all being restored. About 95% of all the hardware is original to the car. All drivetrain numbers are matching and date codes are correct and original. All the body panels and floor pans are original and there was never any collision or rust repairs ever. I started with a perfect body.

First the car was completely disassembled down to the tub and stripped to bare metal. The body is laser straight and was refinished in Dupont two stage. Then the car was sanded down to 3000 grit and polished, this includes the firewall, sub frames, and the picture frame. The paint work may be a bit over restored but it looks amazing. All the original bumpers were sent out to be show quality chromed and all the bright work was polished as well. All rubber and weather strip was replaced, some pieces were purchased from 2 different suppliers and the best one was used, most all from the UK. The car has 5 new Dayton wire wheels and 5 new correct size BF Goodrich radials for great handling.

The interior was redone with a complete kit from Bartlett Co. and all gages and lights including the map and courtesy lights and even the reverse lights work as they should. The car has 60,699 miles on it and this is all documented with receipts. At this point, the car has about 200 break in miles since the restoration was completed in February, 2019 so this car is completely sorted and better than new.

The engine was bored, balanced and completely overhauled and runs perfect. The carburetors were rebuilt with as many ethanol friendly parts as possible and then polished. The transmission and rear end assembly were also overhauled and all parts replaced as needed. I did make only 2 changes to the car for more reliable and fun driving. The alternator was replaced with a Delco so no more Lucas electrical problems and the two are not that different. I also added electronic ignition which is all in the distributor so you cannot tell the conversion was done.

The car comes with the original jack, ratchet, knock off tool and hammer, the original tool kit and the original toe board. Also the original owner's manual and leather case, service manual and over 3,000 photos of the restoration are included.

This car would be right at home at any high end concourse event. If you are serious about purchasing one of the finest E-types available, please look at all the other ones in mind first and look at mine last, you will be very happy you did.

Price: $119,000 obo

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
