This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was refurbished in the early 2000s and acquired by the current owner in 2005. It has been repainted metallic light blue over dark blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a dark blue soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Canada with Alberta registration.
Said to have been originally finished in British Racing Green, the car was repainted metallic light blue in the early 2000s, and exterior equipment includes a replacement dark blue soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, dual side mirrors, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185/65 Continental Touring Contact tires that show date codes from 2001. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in bark blue leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six has been fitted with triple SU carburetors, and it was rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller notes an oil leak that is believed to be from the front timing chain cover.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The vehicle is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as the ownership document in Alberta, Canada. The sale does not include a title.

This Jaguar E-Type is an example of one of the final narrow body, short wheel base 6 cylinder cars that was produced before the introduction of the V12 Series 3 E-Type.
It is a Canadian market car that was given a 'ground up nut and bolt' restoration for Calgary Businessman John Aldred in the early 2000's. The work was done by British Auto Specialists in Calgary at a cost of over $160,000. The car was refinished in a shade of light blue metallic with a dark blue leather interior. It was originally BRG with a Suade Green Interior according to the Jaguar Heritage production certificate.
The odometer on the vehicle shows just over 2,000 miles, indicating limited but regular use since the completion of the restoration.
Cold start, idle and overall drivability are excellent. Gearbox is very positive with no whining and good synros on all 4 gears. Clutch engagement is smooth and progressive. Power with the retro fitted SU carbs is excellent and the car leaps off the line and accelerates hard. The tires show no signs of dry cracking, though they date code to 2005.
This is a fast car, even by today's standards.
This classic Jaguar has had a recent service in which the valve cover gaskets and water pump were replaced along with a refresh of the triple SU carbs and replacement of the intake manifold gaskets. It was also given a fresh oil service. It is 'on the button' and needs nothing apart from its next custodian.
Apart from a few touched up chips in the paintwork the car presents as a freshly restored classic.
