Ebay item 10/25/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $19,325.00 (Reserve not met), 9 bids, 9 days left in auction. The auction is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Sellers description:
This auction is for a 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II Roadster
As the only car to adorn the museum of modern art, the XKE is world renown for its timeless beauty, race history pedigree, and breath taking performance.
As one of the most sought after collector sports cars today, XKE’s in excellent shape are now demanding prices reaching into six figures.
The first XKE model, introduced in 1961, was the Series I E-type. The second model, the Series II E-type, featured several improvements over the Series I including, synchronized gear box, more comfortable seats and interior, and a more powerful larger 4.2 liter engine. The Series II is much more affordable than the Series I E-type, but is in line to begin its climb to a higher price. It was recently mentioned by Craig Jackson, of Barrett-Jackson Auctions, as a car that is truly under priced and has great investment potential in the near future.
P FOR AUCTION
is this elegant Series II E-type roadster that not only includes the enhanced features of a typical Series II, but it has also been upgraded with the higher performance Triple SU Carburetor system for added horsepower (costly upgrade) making it extremely fast. This car also has the proper highly desired chrome wire wheels and the factory synchronized 4-speed manual transmission.
Vehicle Condition
This car is beautiful. It has recently gone through a mechanical and cosmetic restoration. The car has a new paint job, including the entire engine bay (bonnet underside, sub-frame and firewall). The chrome, including the wheels, are all original and in great shape. The top frame was restored and a new top was also put on the car. While the engine was out, many new mechanical components were restored or replaced in the engine bay (new fan motors, heater motor, coolant hoses/stainless steel coolant tubes, shocks, belts etc.). The interior is in great condition and mostly original. It includes an upgraded steering wheel, new seat foam, and a few other minor enhancements. The clutch, tires and other items were replaced just prior to the recent restoration project and are all in great condition.
The car is finished in classic Jaguar metal-flake silver, a black interior, and a black convertible top. The body has never been in an accident or driven in a winter environment. The car is originally from California. The engine is the original (matching numbers) engine, and is in excellent condition. The car’s mileage shows 48,000, and there is no reason to believe that this isn’t the actual mileage – the condition of the original interior is a good indication of the mileage.
In summary, the car is an excellent driver and shows very well.
