Seller's description:
1970 Jaguar XKE e-Type Roadster
Numbers Matching, Heritage Certificate
Lovely 1970 Jaguar XKE e-type Roadster for sale. This attractive, numbers matching Jaguar was manufactured on February 17th, 1970, dispatched on March 6th, and sold new by Hempstead Auto on July 16, 1970.
It has been beautifully refinished recently from its factory Sable over Black to this attractive dark blue over gray with a black soft top. It includes the original invoice, owner's manual, Passport to Service booklet, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, photos of the car in its original Sable finish along with a plethora of records during the prior owner's 37-year ownership.
The odometer currently shows 41,345 though we are told the mileage to be closer to 55-60k. Also, please note that 530 miles have been added since these photos were taken. The car resides in Northern California, is properly stored, nicely maintained, and ready to enjoy.
The original exterior was in excellent condition in 2014 when the previous owner decided to change the color to this attractive dark metallic blue. At that time the car was mostly disassembled, doors, bonnet, and boot removed to complete. The body is straight and tidy.
New door, boot, and windshield rubber were installed along with lighting gaskets and other ancillary items. The chrome wire wheels, trim, lenses, glass, and emblems present well. In addition, the floors are solid and rust-free along with the lower rockers, panels, and doors.
The interior was refreshed as well with new leather, door cards, and a new, proper soft top with excellent fitment. The gauges are in good working order along with the lighting, heater, wipers, and 8-track stereo. The cockpit is tidy and comfortable and wonderful to be in.
The numbers matching 4.2 Liter starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly with no smoke and plenty of power. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts well up and down through the gears without hesitation. Over the last couple thousand miles, the car has received upper and lower ball joints, new front shock absorbers, exhaust resonators, and more. It handles beautifully and has tight, quick braking making it a wonderful driving e-Type.
